Chapter 1 HWPing Commands
1.1 HWPing Commands
1.1.1 count
Syntax
count times
undo count

HWPing test group view
Parameters
times: Number of the test packets to be transmitted. It is in the range 1 to 15 and defaults to 1.
Description
Use the count command to configure the number of packets to be sent for each test.
Use the undo count command to restore the default value.
A test timer is started when the system sends the first test packet. In the event that the times argument is greater than one, the system continues to send the second one upon receipt of the reply to the first one. If receiving no reply until the timer times out, the system sends the second and all the remaining packets likewise.

Syntax
destination-ip ip-address
undo destination-ip

HWPing test group view
Parameters
ip-address: Destination IP address in a test.
Description
Use the destination-ip command to configure the destination IP address in the test.
Use the undo destination-ip command to delete the configured destination IP address.
By default, no destination IP address is configured for any test.
& Note:
The H3C S7500 Series Ethernet Switches support up to five test groups simultaneously.

# Configure the destination IP address in the test of test group administrator-icmp as 1.1.1.99.

Syntax
display hwping { results | history } [ administrator-name operation-tag ]

Parameters
results: Displays the test results.
history: Displays the test history.
administrator-name: Name of the administrator that creates the test.
operation-tag: Test operation tag.
Description
Use the display hwping command to display test result(s).
If a test group is specified using the arguments of administrator-name and operation-tag, the system displays only the test result of the group; if not, it displays the test results of all the test groups.
Related commands: test-enable.
Examples
# Use the display hwping results command to display the test result of the test group whose administrator name is administrator and operation tag is icmp.

Round trip test time, in milliseconds, or the timeout time. 0 means the test fails. |
Status |
Value of the test result. See the following detailed description: 1: responceReceived. It means response is received. 2: unknown. It means an unknown error. 3: internalError. It means a system internal error. 4: requestTimeOut. It means the response times out. 5: unknownDestinationAddress. It means the destination address is unknown. 6: noRouteToTarget. It means there is no route to the destination address. 7: interfaceInactiveToTarget. It means the interface of destination address is not activated. 8: arpFailure. It means ARP operation fails. 9: maxConcurrentLimitReached. It means the maximum limit of concurrent accesses is reached. 10: unableToResolveDnsName. It means it is unable to resolve the DNS field. 11: invalidHostAddress. It means the invalid host address. |

Receive the last response code based on the implementation ways. With ICMP echo enabled, if the system receives ICMP response which includes ICMP_ECHOREPLY(0), the probe has succeeded. ICMP response is often defined in the file including ip_icmp. |

Syntax

Parameters
interval: Automatic test interval. It ranges from 0 to 65,535 seconds and defaults to 0. The default value means that no automatic test is performed.
Description
Use the frequency command to configure an automatic test interval.
Use the undo frequency command to disable an automatic test.
The system automatically tests at intervals specified by this command, where the argument interval is greater than 0.
Related commands: count.

# Set the automatic test interval of test group administrator-icmp to 10 seconds.

administrator-name: Name of the administrator creating a HWPing test group, a string of 1 to 32 characters.
operation-tag: Test operation tag, a string of 1 to 32 characters.
Description
Use the hwping command to create a HWPing test group and enter HWPing test group view.
Use the undo hwping command to delete this test group.
Examples
# Create a HWPing test group, setting the administrator name to administrator and the test operation tag to icmp.

Description
Use the hwping-agent enable command to enable the HWPing client function.
Use the undo hwping-agent enable command to disable the HWPing client function.
Before you can perform a test, you must enable the HWPing client function. By default, HWPing client function is enabled.

Syntax

type: Test type.
Description
Use the test-type command to configure the type of the test.
Currently the system only supports ICMP test.

Description
Use the test-enable command to execute a HWPing test.
Use the undo test-enable command to disable a HWPing test.
& Note:
After you execute the test-enable command, the system does not display the test result. You need to view the test result information by executing the display hwping command.

1.1.9 timeout
Syntax

Parameters
time: Timeout time. It is in the range of 1 to 60 seconds and defaults to 3 seconds.
Description
Use the timeout command to configure a timeout time for a test.
Use the undo timeout command to restore the default value.
Examples
# Set the timeout time of test group administrator-icmp to 10 seconds.
