File filtering FAQ
Q. Why does a webpage still display the JPG images after file filtering has been configured to block JPG files?
· File filtering supports filtering packets of HTTP, FTP, SMTP, IMAP, NFS, POP3, RTMP, and SMB. For file filtering to take effect on webpages encrypted by HTTPS, configure SSL offloading first.
· If the image file is included in the parameter part of the URI (the part following ? in a URL), file filtering cannot filter such image files.
Q. Why does file filtering occasionally fail to take effect or take incorrect actions?
File filtering depends on the signature identification of the DPI engine. After adding or editing the configuration, you must execute the inspect active command to have the new configuration take effect. For packets transmitted during the time between adding or editing the configuration and executing the inspect active command, file filtering might not take effect or take incorrect actions.
Q. Why is there no data in the file filtering logs and reports?
File filtering logging and reporting take effect only when the session statistics enable is executed. To use file filtering logging, you must enable logging when you create a file filtering rule.
A. Why does the action for packets with files carrying false extensions not take effect?
The device takes the action for packets with files carrying false extensions only when the file extension of the inspected file and the real file extension are both in the applied file type group.
