Managing licenses
Registering a feature
Some software features must be separately registered before they can work. A version of such a feature can be a trial version or an official version. A license for an official version never expires, while a license for a trial version has a trial period and the feature becomes unusable when the trial period expires.
To register a feature, purchase a license for an official version of the feature or obtain a license for a trial version. You can use the display license command to view the current registration state of a feature. For more information about license registration, see H3C Access Controllers License Registration and Activation Guide.
|
NOTE: Support for this feature depends on the device model. For more information, see About the H3C Access Controllers Configuration Guides. |
Configuration guidelines
When you register a feature, follow these guidelines:
· To use a feature for a long time, purchase a license for an official version of the feature and register the feature.
· Enter the activation key and license key in correct format.
· When you reach the maximum number of APs allowed by the system, you cannot register more licenses. When the system allows zero APs, the WLAN function is not available. You must purchase and register the AP-based license to make the WLAN function available. Support for the number of APs allowed by the system depends on the device model. For more information, see About the H3C Access Controllers Configuration Guides.
· Check for your license key to determine which command should be used to register the feature.
¡ If the license key is a string of 20 characters, such as 0E60F01DD07102DE532C, use the command in system view.
¡ If the license key is a string of hyphenated characters, for example 3130A0J3-1-PQustbsE-&gJTxaKd-9e&&HcbW, use the command in user view.
· When you use the license append command to register a feature, you must restart the device to make the license take effect.
