About IP traffic statistics collection
This feature collects statistics for user traffic for applications passing through a gateway device. The following statistics can be collected:
· Real-time traffic rate statistics for applications
This function monitors the application-based traffic rates in real time. The IP the traffic statistics collection module collects traffic rate statistics for all packets passing through a gateway device during a statistics collection interval and periodically updates the collected traffic rates.
· Historical traffic statistics for users and applications
This function monitors the user-based and application-based traffic sizes. The IP traffic statistics collection module saves the collected historical traffic statistics for all users and applications locally.
IP traffic statistics collection tasks at a glance
To configure IP traffic statistics collection, perform the following tasks:
1. Configuring real-time traffic statistics collection for applications
2. Enabling historical traffic statistics collection
3. (Optional.) Ending the IP traffic statistics collection process and deleting all data in the IP traffic statistics collection module
Configuring real-time traffic statistics collection for applications
About this task
Perform this task on a gateway device to monitor the traffic rates of application traffic passing through the gateway device. The IP traffic statistics collection module will collect traffic rate statistics in real time for all packets passing through during a statistics collection interval and periodically updates collected traffic rates. The real-time traffic rates are average traffic rates during the statistics collection interval.
Restrictions and guidelines
This feature might be memory intensive and degrade device performance. As a best practice, use this feature only when necessary and disable this feature when you do not use it.
Procedure
1. Enter system view.
system-view
2. Enable real-time traffic statistics collection for applications.
ip traffic-statistics live application enable
By default, real-time traffic statistics collection is disabled for applications.
3. (Optional.) Set the statistics collection interval.
ip traffic-statistics interval interval
The default setting is 10 seconds.
Enabling historical traffic statistics collection
About this task
Perform this task on a gateway device to monitor the traffic sizes of users and applications. This feature enables the IP traffic statistics collection module to save the collected historical traffic statistics locally.
Restrictions and guidelines
This feature is memory intensive and affects device performance. As a best practice, disable this feature when you do not use it.
Procedure
1. Enter system view.
system-view
2. Enable historical traffic statistics collection.
ip traffic-statistics history enable
By default, historical traffic statistics collection is disabled.
Ending the IP traffic statistics collection process and deleting all data in the IP traffic statistics collection module
About this task
This feature is memory intensive and affects device performance. This feature deletes all configuration data and running data in the IP traffic statistics collection module and ends the IP traffic statistics collection process.
Procedure
1. Enter system view.
system-view
2. End the IP traffic statistics collection process and delete all data in the IP traffic statistics collection module.

Verifying and maintaining IP traffic statistics collection
Displaying real-time traffic statistics for applications
To display real-time traffic statistics for applications, execute the following command in any view:
display ip traffic-statistics live application [ app app-name | direction { both | downlink | uplink } [ top top-number ] ] [ slot slot-number ]
display ip traffic-statistics live application top top-number [ slot slot-number ]
Displaying and clearing historical traffic statistics
To display historical traffic statistics, execute the following command in any view:
display ip traffic-statistics history application [ time start-date start-time end-date end-time ] [ direction { both | downlink | uplink } ] [ user-ip { ip-address | ipv6-address } ] [ top top-number ]
display ip traffic-statistics history user [ time start-date start-time end-date end-time ] [ direction { both | downlink | uplink } ] [ app app-name ] [ top top-number ]
To clear historical application traffic statistics, execute the following command in user view:
reset ip traffic-statistics history
