Version upgrade recommendation
This version is recommended for upgrade.
Upgrade restrictions and guidelines
Make sure the server and the HDM client (such as a PC) can reach each other.
For a successful bulk update, make sure you can update one server successfully before you update the remaining servers.
During the update, make sure the network connection is available and do not refresh the webpage.
Do not refresh the page during the update.
To avoid CPLD or operating system errors, do not power on or power off the server during the firmware update.
After the firmware is updated, clear the browser cache before you re-log in to HDM.
When using .rpm packages for online upgrade, use an OS that uses a version lower than RHL9.0.

List of resolved problems
Resolved problems in V006
New version released.
Resolved problems in V002
Updated the I2C_SLAVE_REG.v module to introduce the following improvement:
Improved backplane power fault mechanism to add error latch.
Associate fault information with drive in-place state to report drive absence.
Improved the register for switching drive in-place state.
Further optimized register lighting: The blue LED can usually be turned on without requirement for special register control. When the amber LED is turned on by SGPIO, the blue LED cannot be turned on. Unless in equipment mode, the blue and amber LEDs cannot be turned on at the same time.
When the lighting control mode is switched, the state of the corresponding LEDs remains unchanged.
Backplane interrupt feedback and clearing.
Kunpeng server register 0x0D.
Resolved problems in V003
Modified the clock of the PCA9555 module.
Modified the clock of the I2C_SLAVE_INF module and the I2C_SLAVE_REG module.
Resolved the issue where NVMe hot-plug interrupt signals cannot be triggered.
Resolved problems in V004
Optimized NVMe hot swapping to make it more stable in higher version systems.
Optimized compatibility with Kunpeng servers.
Resolved problems in V005
Optimized compatibility with the R4300 G5 and resolved the SGPIO LED issue.
Resolved problems in V006
Optimized compatibility with the R4900 G5 and resolved the SATA/SAS drive LED issue when LSI backplanes are used.
Resolved problems in V008
Added support for online update under the operating system.
Resolved the issue where ACTIVE LEDs of NVMe drives cannot flash in stress tests.

Appendix B Updating firmware from HDM
The following information describes how to update the CPLD firmware from HDM through an RJ-45 port.
Hardware and software requirements
Hardware: PC with an RJ-45 port.
Software: Browser.
None.
Before uploading the version file for update, first verify that the MD5 checksum is correct.
Screenshots in this section are for illustration only.
1.Connect the RJ-45 port on the local PC to the HDM network port on the server.
2.Configure the PC to use an IP address in the same network segment as the HDM IP address.
Entering username and password
Visit the HDM access address (for example, 192.168.1.2) through a browser, and then enter the HDM username and password on the login page.
1.Access the Update Firmware page, select BPCPLD, browse to the firmware image file (.bin file), and then click Next.
2.Select the target drive backplane, and then click Next.
Handling firmware update failures
If a firmware update fails, the system starts up with the original firmware version. To resolve the firmware update failure issue:
1.Verify that the network ports are connected correctly.
2.Verify that the correct firmware file is uploaded.
3.Verify that no power-off operations are performed during the update.
4.Verify that HDM is power cycled after the update.
Appendix C Updating CPLD from the OS
This procedure is applicable to scenarios where you can access the operating system correctly.
Hardware and software requirements
System disk with a version lower than RHL9.0.
Operating system with a version lower than RHL9.0.
Before uploading the version file for update, first verify that the MD5 checksum is correct.
Screenshots in this section are for illustration only.
Starting the system and accessing the operating system
Copying the file to the directory for update
Copy the file to the directory, execute the chmod 777 * and ./XXX commands, where XXX represents the name of the rpm package. The figure is for illustration only.
CAUTION: Do not enter any other commands during the firmware update process. To avoid CPLD or operating system errors, do not power on or power off the server during the firmware update. |
Waiting for the update process to finish
Verifying if the firmware is in effect
Method 1: Remove the AC power for 30 seconds and then power on the device again.
Method 2: Log in to HDM, and access the Remote O&M > Update Firmware > Restart CPLD.
Handling firmware update failures
If a firmware update fails, the system starts up with the original firmware version. To resolve the firmware update failure issue:
1.Verify if the system version is correct (below RHL9.0).
2.Verify if the upgraded RPM and the backplane correspond.
