Overview

The DC2400 DC-input and DC-output power module provides a maximum output of 2400 W. The available model is NSQM1DC2400.

It has the following features:

·     It has protection against undervoltage input, overvoltage input, overvoltage output, output short circuit, overcurrent output, and overtemperature.

·     It is hot swappable. You can install and remove the power module on an operating device.

·     It can operate in N+1 or N+N redundancy. For more information, see "Power module configuration."

NOTE:

The power module shuts down automatically when its temperature exceeds the acceptable range. When the temperature returns to the acceptable range, the power module restarts automatically.

·     An output exception has occurred, for example, output short circuit, output overcurrent, output overvoltage, input undervoltage, overtemperature, or remote shutdown. The power module has entered self-protection mode.

·     No power is being input to the power module. Other power modules are supplying power to the device.

Orange

The temperature of the power module exceeds the acceptable range. The power module has entered self-protection mode.

NOTE:

After the circuit breaker of the power module is switched off, the LEDs on the power module will remain on for a while. Make sure the LEDs are off when you remove the power module.

Power module configuration

Follow these guidelines to configure power modules for a device:

·     Determine the required number of power modules based on the actual power consumption, the power module slot number, and power redundancy design.

·     Determine the power module redundancy design based on the power source conditions.

? When two mains power inputs are provided, you can configure the power modules in N+N redundancy. N+N must be not greater than the total number of power module slots.

? When one mains power input is provided, you can configure the power modules in N+1 or N+N redundancy. N+1 or N+N must be not greater than the total number of power module slots.

·     For easy usage and maintenance, configure a circuit breaker for each power input. The rated current of the circuit breaker must be greater than 80 A.

Installing and removing the power module

CAUTION

CAUTION:

Do not install the DC2400 power module and other types of power modules on the same device.

The power module slots are either vertically or horizontally oriented, depending on the device model. The power module installation and removal procedure is similar for vertical and horizontal power module slots. The figures in this section are for illustration only.

Installing the power module

To avoid bodily injury and device damage, follow the procedure in Figure 2 to install the power module.

Figure 2 Installation flow

NOTE:

If the power module slot does not have a blank panel, skip the "Remove the blank panel" procedure.

Before installing the power module, prepare an ESD wrist strap and a Phillips screwdriver.

Installing the power module

1.     Wear an ESD wrist strap, and make sure the wrist strap makes good skin contact and is reliably grounded.

2.     Use the Phillips screwdriver to loosen the captive screw on the blank panel in the target slot, and remove the blank panel.

3.     Take the power module out of the package.

4.     Correctly orient the power module. The blank panel is printed with a diagram of correct installation direction. Follow the direction to orient the power module.

5.     Holding the handle of the power module with one hand and supporting the bottom with the other, push the power module into the slot along the guide rails.

6.     Press the handle back into the notch of the power module.

7.     Use the Phillips screwdriver to fasten the captive screw on the handle to secure the power module in the slot.

Connecting the power cord

WARNING

WARNING!

·     Make sure each power cord has a separate circuit breaker.

·     Before connecting a DC power cord to the power source terminals, make sure the circuit breakers for both the negative terminal and positive terminal are switched off.

To connect the power cord:

1.     Insert the DC power cord plug into the power receptacle on the power module, as shown by callout 1 in Figure 6.

2.     Fasten the screw on the plug to secure the plug in place, as shown by callout 2 in Figure 6.

Figure 6 Connecting the power cord (vertical power module slot)

(1) Plug the DC power cord connector into the receptacle of the power module.

(2) Fasten the screw on the plug.

3.     Connect the other end of the DC power cord to the circuit breaker, with the negative wire () in blue to the negative terminal () and the positive wire (+) in black to the positive terminal (+).

Removing the power module

CAUTION

CAUTION:

Before you insert a removed power module into a power module slot, make sure the LEDs on the power module are off.

To avoid device damage and bodily injury, follow the procedure in Figure 7 to remove the power module.

Figure 7 Removal flow

Before removing the power module, prepare an ESD wrist strap and a Phillips screwdriver.

Removing the power cord

1.     Turn off the circuit breakers for the power cord.

2.     Wear an ESD wrist strap, and make sure that the wrist strap makes good skin contact and is reliably grounded.

3.     Loosen the screw that fastens the power cord plug, and pull the plug out.

Removing the power module

1.     Use the Phillips screwdriver to loosen the captive screw on the power module.

2.     Hold the captive screw and pull out the handle of the power module.

3.     As shown in Figure 8, grasp the handle of the power module with one hand and pull it part way out of the slot. Support the bottom of the power module with the other hand, and pull the module slowly out of the slot along the guide rails.

Figure 8 Removing the power module (vertical power module slot)

4.     Put the power module on an antistatic mat.

5.     Install the blank panel in the power module slot, and fasten the captive screw on the blank panel.
