NOTE: If you insert a CSFP optical module into a GE fiber port, that GE fiber port occupies two interface numbers. For example, interfaces 18 and 19 indicate one port and interfaces 20 and 21 indicate another port, and so on. If you insert an SFP transceiver module, the black-printed interface numbers on the panel are used, such as 19, 20, 23, 24, 27, 28, 31, and 32. |

Interface numbering
Conventions
The ports are numbered in the interface-type X/Y/Z format, where:
· interface-type—Interface type, for example, Console, GigabitEthernet, or Ten-GigabitEthernet.
· X—Number of the slot where the interface module resides. The slot number is fixed at 1 for interfaces on the device panel.
· Y—Number of the subslot. The device does not support subslots. The value for the Y argument is fixed at 0.
· Z—Number marked for the port on the device panel, starting from 0.
Examples
· GE copper ports 34 to 37 on the RA5100-G-HI router are numbered GigabitEthernet 1/0/34 to GigabitEthernet 1/0/37.
· If an SFP transceiver module is inserted into a GE fiber port on the RA5100-G-HI router, the ports are numbered GigabitEthernet 1/0/19, GigabitEthernet 1/0/20, GigabitEthernet 1/0/23, GigabitEthernet 1/0/24, GigabitEthernet 1/0/27, GigabitEthernet 1/0/28, GigabitEthernet 1/0/31, and GigabitEthernet 1/0/32.
Technical specifications
If a ToD port or CLK/ToD port on the device is used, use the shielded twisted pair cable to avoid clock synchronization anomaly.
Table1-1 and Table1-2 shows the technical specifications of the routers.
