Introduction
The following information provides examples for configuring IPv4 NetStream sampling on routers.
Prerequisites
This document applies to Comware 9-based routers. Procedures and information in the examples might be slightly different depending on the software or hardware version of the router.
The configuration examples in this document were created and verified in a lab environment, and all the devices were started with the factory default configuration. When you are working on a live network, make sure you understand the potential impact of every command on your network.
This document assumes that you have basic knowledge of samplers and IPv4 NetStream.
Example: Configuring IPv4 NetStream sampling
Network configuration
As shown in Figure 1, the router acts as the gateway to provide external network access. Configure the following settings to collect traffic statistics in the outbound direction on GigabitEthernet 0/0/2 and in the inbound direction on GigabitEthernet 0/0/3 on the router and export the collected data to the NetStream server:
· Configure random sampling in the outbound direction to select one packet randomly from 200 packets on GigabitEthernet 0/0/2.
· Configure fixed sampling in the inbound direction to select the first packet from 100 packets on GigabitEthernet 0/0/3.
Software versions used
This configuration example was created and verified on R9141P16 of the MSR2630E-X1 device.
Procedures
# Create sampler samplerin in fixed mode and set the rate to 100. The first packet of 100 packets is selected.
<Device> system-view
[Device] sampler samplerin mode fixed packet-interval 100
# Create sampler samplerout in random mode and set the rate to 200. One packet from 200 packets is selected.
[Device] sampler samplerout mode random packet-interval 200
# Enable IPv4 NetStream to use sampler samplerin to collect statistics for the inbound traffic on GigabitEthernet 0/0/3.
[Device] interface gigabitethernet 0/0/3
[Device-GigabitEthernet0/0/3] ip address 10.0.0.1 24
[Device-GigabitEthernet0/0/3] ip netstream inbound
[Device-GigabitEthernet0/0/3] ip netstream sampler samplerin inbound
[Device-GigabitEthernet0/0/3] quit
#Enable IPv4 NetStream to use sampler samplerout to collect statistics for the outbound traffic on GigabitEthernet 0/0/2.
[Device] interface gigabitethernet 0/0/2
[Device-GigabitEthernet0/0/2] ip address 192.168.0.1 24
[Device-GigabitEthernet0/0/2] ip netstream outbound
[Device-GigabitEthernet0/0/2] ip netstream sampler samplerout outbound
[Device-GigabitEthernet0/0/2] quit
# Specify an IP address for GigabitEthernet 0/0/1.
[Device] interface gigabitethernet 0/0/1
[Device-GigabitEthernet0/0/1] ip address 192.168.1.1 24
[Device-GigabitEthernet0/0/1] quit
# Specify destination address 192.168.1.2 and UDP port 5000 for NetStream data export.
[Device] ip netstream export host 192.168.1.2 5000
Verifying the configuration
# Execute the display sampler command to display configuration information for sampler samplerin and sampler samplerout.
[Device] display sampler
