H3C Registers Fastest Growth in China's Mainstream Virtual Desktop Market in H1 2022: IDC Report

    12-12-2022

With a market share growing more than twice the industry's average and a 23.2-percent year-on-year increase in sales in the first half of 2022, H3C retained its leading position in China's mainstream Virtual Desktop market and demonstrated great strength and growth potential for better performance in the market, suggested a recent report, "PRC Virtual Client Computing Software Tracker 2022H1 Delivery", released by leading global market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC).

In the context of regular COVID-19 prevention and control measures, all industries are required to embrace uncertainties with a more adaptable mindset, and maintain the dynamism of organizations and business by adopting a more resilient and flexible way of working.

Against this backdrop, hybrid work model, which combines the advantages of both working in the office and telecommuting, has gradually evolved from an extra convenience into a necessity for enterprises and other organizations.

In the meantime, as the constantly evolving internal and external environments put forward higher requirements for ways of working, people-centered hybrid work model becomes particularly important, and how to build a digital work space that is deeply integrated, experience-oriented, safe and reliable, and AI-empowered has emerged as the primary issue concerning future work models.

H3C Workspace 2.0 Gears up for "5A Workspace Experience"

Leveraging its rich practical experience in developing digital solutions for customers in various industries and broad capabilities built up in practice over the past decades, H3C rolled out H3C Workspace 2.0, an upgraded version of its desktop virtualization product H3C Workspace cloud desktop, in August this year.

With a simplified architecture that combines cloud computing capability and terminal screen, H3C Workspace 2.0 is aimed at delivering a flexible and mobile workspace experience, which is called as the "5A workspace experience" by H3C. The term suggests that users in various industries can access cloud desktops anytime and anywhere via any terminals and on any network.

In addition, the upgraded version of H3C Workspace has integrated five core innovative engines, which have significantly elevated the capacity of the product and are expected to give a strong boost to the transformation of work models in various industries.

Transmission acceleration engine: Adopting VDP 5.0 (Video Datagram Protocol), which features smarter algorithms and technologies, the engine enables H3C Workspace to adapt to more diverse display terminals, thus improving transmission efficiency while reducing network bandwidth and latency. Meanwhile, the engine has introduced Intel's Transparent Client Infrastructure (TCI) and significantly elevated desktop management efficiency.

Graphics acceleration engine: As the first company in China to realize live migration of virtual graphics processing unit (GPU), H3C has successfully satisfied the needs of data transmission in scenarios with high demand for computing power, such as industrial drafting, rendering, and AI-empowered machine learning.

Application scheduling engine: H3C has launched the innovative Workspace Resource Scheduler (WRS). The technology enables users to not only set the Quality of Service (QoS) based on the application layer, but adjust the scheduling priority of application processes. In this way, it helps ensure balanced resource workloads at the application layer and greatly improve resource utilization rate.

Data management engine: The engine guarantees safe flow of data between different types of desktops and allows customized transmission process. Besides, it ensures that the data transmission can be audited and that users' personalized data can be managed in a flexible way.

Multi-mode architecture engine: H3C Workspace 2.0 can be deployed on various types of public and private clouds and is subject to unified management, operations and maintenance via Desktop as a Service (DaaS) platforms, allowing users to subscribe based on demand and ensuring quick delivery of resources.

One-stop Cloud Desktop Services Tested by Over 10,000 Users in H3C

As a turnkey solution incubated in H3C's own practice, H3C Workspace has always been serving the needs of H3C's own employees. More than 10,000 staff in the company are currently using H3C Workspace, with the maximum number of concurrent online users exceeding 8,000. With services covering scenarios including daily office work, technology research and development, and talents training, the product can meet the work-related needs of working while traveling, digital conference, and working from home.

Benefiting from H3C's years of practical experience, H3C Workspace today has reduced the office bandwidth to 100Kbps and network latency from 80 milliseconds to 40 milliseconds, while improving desktop screen resolution from 4K to 8K and frame rate to 144 FPS. In addition, the Workspace Center featuring multi-level management structure makes it possible for the virtualization product to significantly cut IT operations and maintenance costs and improve work efficiency.

Thanks to its practical experience and profound insights into the market, H3C has well integrated H3C Workspace 2.0 into application scenarios in various industries, and developed industry-based and professional solutions, providing one-stop cloud desktop-related services for customers in various industries.

So far, H3C Workspace 2.0 has been deployed on a large scale in many industries, satisfying the needs of users, including governments, carriers, schools, enterprises, and financial institutions, for hybrid work model amid the protracted COVID-19 pandemic.
