This help contains the following topics:
· Obtain a license from the license server
¡ Configure the license server
Introduction
To use a license-based feature on the device, you must purchase a license key and install a license for the feature. The supported features vary by device type.
You can license features to a device through either of the following methods:
· Local licensing—Installs licenses on the device.
· Remote licensing—Requires the cooperation of the license server and license client. The activation files are installed on the license server. The device acts as the license client to request licenses from the license server.
Remote licensing provides centralized management on licensing and license distribution. Licenses are installed on the license server and are assigned to a requesting license client. The licenses are released when the client does not need the features, and can be assigned to another requesting client again. This method implements license resource sharing.
This document describes only the remote licensing.
Restrictions and guidelines
· To modify the IP address and port number of a license server, first disable license client.
· You can specify a maximum of four license servers. When multiple license servers are configured, make sure only one license server that is operating stably is reachable.
