User Manual-6PW105

BOM: 3101A12G

Overview

Introduction

The PSR300-12A series (PSR300-12A, PSR300-12A1, and PSR300-12A2) are AC-input and DC-output power modules. The PSR300-12D series (PSR300-12D1 and PSR300-12D2) are DC-input and DC-output power modules. These power modules provide 12 VDC voltage and a maximum output power of 300 W.

The power modules support 1+1 redundancy and load sharing and are hot swappable.

The power modules provide overvoltage, short circuit, overcurrent, and overtemperature protections.

·     It shuts down and latches off when an overvoltage, short circuit, or overcurrent condition occurs.

To restore the operation, reconnect the power cord. Make sure you turn off the power switch on the power module when you disconnect and reconnect the power cord.

·     It shuts down when an overtemperature condition occurs and automatically restores operation after the temperature decreases to the acceptable range.

LEDs

Table 2 LED description

LED

Status

Description

Input status LED (AC OK or Input)

Off

No power is input or an input failure has occurred.

On

The power input is normal.

Output status LED (DC OK or Output)

Off

No power is output or an output failure has occurred.

On

The power output is normal.

If the input LED is on but the output LED is off, a short-circuit, overcurrent, overvoltage, or overtemperature condition might occur. If short-circuit, overcurrent, or overvoltage occurs, reconnect the power cord. Make sure you turn off the power switch on the power module when you disconnect or reconnect the power cord. If overtemperature occurs, decrease the ambient temperature.

Installing and removing a power module

To avoid device damage and bodily injury, strictly follow the installation and removal procedures illustrated in Figure 2 and Figure 3, respectively.

Figure 2 Installation procedure

Figure 3 Removal procedure

Precautions

·     Wear an ESD wrist strap and make sure it makes good skin contact and is reliably grounded.

·     Make sure the voltage of the power source is as required by the power module, and the output voltage of the power module is as required by the device.

·     Do not touch any bare wire or terminal.

·     Never place the power module in wet locations and prevent liquid from flowing into the power module.

·     To avoid power module damage, do not open the power module. If a failure occurs on the internal wires or units, contact H3C Support.

Procedure

You need to prepare an ESD wrist strap, a flathead screwdriver, and a Phillips screwdriver for power module installation and removal.

The installation and removal procedures are the same for the PSR300-12A and PSR300-12D power modules. This section uses the PSR300-12A power module as an example.

Installing a power module

1.     Remove the filler panel (if any) from the target slot.

2.     Unpack the power module and verify that the input mode of the power module is as required.

3.     Orient the power module with the characters on the front panel upward. Grasping the module handle with one hand and supporting the module bottom with the other, push the module slowly into the slot along the guide rails. See callout 1 in Figure 4.

To prevent damage to the power module and the connectors on the backplane of the device, insert the power module gently. If you encounter a hard resistance while inserting the power module, pull out the power module, realign it with the slot, and insert it again.

4.     Fasten the captive screw on the power module with a Philips screwdriver to secure the power module in the device. See callout 2 in Figure 4.

If the captive screw cannot be tightened, verify the installation of the power module.

Figure 4 Installing a power module

Removing a power module

1.     Turn off the power switch on the power module and disconnect the power cord.

2.     Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the captive screw on the power module until all pressure is released.

3.     Grasp the module handle with one hand and pull the module part way out. Support the module bottom with the other hand and pull the module slowly out of the slot along the guide rails.

4.     Put the removed power module into an anti-static bag.

Connecting an AC power cord

1.     Make sure the power switch on the AC power module is turned off.

2.     Pull the bail latch upwards, as shown by callout 1 in Figure 5. Connect one end of the AC power cord to the power receptacle on the module, as shown by callout 2 in Figure 5.

3.     Pull the bail latch down to secure the plug to the power receptacle, as shown by callout 3 in Figure 5.

4.     Connect the other end of the AC power cord to the AC power source.

Figure 5 Connecting an AC power cord

Connecting a DC power cord

1.     Make sure the power switch on the DC power module is turned off.

2.     Orient the DC plug correctly and insert it into the DC receptacle, as shown by callout 1 in Figure 6.

If you insert the DC plug upside down, the insertion is not smooth because of the specific structure design of the DC power receptacle and the plug.

3.     Use a flathead screwdriver to fasten the two screws on the DC plug to secure the plug to the power receptacle, as shown by callout 2 in Figure 6.

4.     Connect the other end of the DC power cord to the DC power source.
