H3C Wins Large Share of China Mobile's Tender for SDN-based IT Cloud Resource Pool Project

    10-10-2020

H3C recently announced that it has been selected by China Mobile for its IT Cloud Resource Pool SDN (Software-Defined Networking) construction project for 2019 (Phase II). It is expected to offer two nodes and three SDN networks, and have in-depth participation in the construction and expansion of China Mobile's cloud resource pools.

Devoting itself to exploring new types of networks, China Mobile has always had a goal to introduce SDN technology to further upgrade its network capability and better prepare for "Communication 4.0".

As a reliable core value partner of carriers, H3C is one of the few enterprises that are able to offer whole-set SDN solutions from equipment, controllers, deployment and management. Back in 2014, the company had successfully won the bidding of China Mobile Research Institute's procurement project for SND controllers, becoming China Mobile's first supplier of SDN controllers for IP networks. A year later, the company launched its first commercial SDN project for China Mobile, in particular, the Jiangxi branch of the carrier.

Besides, it also delivered outstanding performance in follow-up major SDN projects of China Mobile. It is noteworthy that before this tender winning, the company was also the winner of the largest share in China Mobile's SDN-based IT cloud resource pool construction project for 2019 (Phase I), providing SDN controllers, core switches, as well as security gateways for the carrier's largest Data Center (DC).

At present, H3C is able to offer leading Carrier-grade DC-SDN solutions featuring SDN Control-/User Plane Separation (CUPS), auto scaling, visualized maintenance of cloud management platform, cloud network deployment, and Carrier-grade huge data traffic capacity. Realizing multi-scenario networking with hybrid Overlay, the company can provide strong platform support for carriers in constructing Carrier-grade Data Centers featuring the decoupling of cloud and network.

H3C, constructing smart and open infrastructure of cloud-network integration to assist carriers to build cloud resource pools, has not only helped the latter realize network transformation, but also provided them with better comprehensive information services. It has laid a solid foundation for China Mobile to move its networks, businesses and capability to the cloud.
