NAVIGATE 2020: H3C Leads the Evolution of Smart Cities Enabled by Intelligence

    22-04-2020

On April 21, the second day of NAVIGATE 2020, H3C shared its forward-looking ideas, latest technologies and application practice on smart city construction with scholars and city administrators excelling in the related field at the online session of “Digital Brain Facilitating Further Evolution of Smart Cities”. Meanwhile, H3C also released the Digital Economy Index 2020 to explore the sustainable path of and provide reference for urban digital economy development in China.

With the continuous development of urban digital economy and the accelerated evolution of digital governance, intelligent technology is becoming one of the core capabilities for urban construction and industrial development to face revolutions and seek changes.

Digital Economy Index 2020 Officially Released

Cao Yan, General Manager of Smart City Solutions Division & Vice President of Cloud and Intelligence Product Line of H3C, officially released the Digital Economy Index 2020 at the forum. Cao introduced the main trend of the current development of urban digital economy during his speech, which is that the investment in new infrastructure construction will be pouring in the digital economy, hence rapidly highlighting the importance of data awareness capability and the factor value. At the stage of the development of industrial digitalization and the initial phase of digital industrialization, cities are evolving into industrial clustering and digital development. Under the background, governments need to focus on two important means of “new infrastructure” and “digital government administration” to drive the development of digital economy and lead to a positive circle.

City Digital Brain Evolves to Lead New Urban Development

The evolution of smart cities has promoted the governance capability down to the grassroots governance level, and improving citizen engagement is an emerging trend. Cross-sectoral and cross-organizational collaboration will become the “new normal” of urban governance in the future. Yue Peng, Executive Director of H3C City Digital Brain Research Institute, said that with intelligent technology, cities have achieved more inclusive perception applications and more standard perception management for more comprehensive perception objects. Huge amounts of data has become the core strategic asset of urban governance and services. On this basis, City Digital Brain is evolving at a high speed, enabling the free combination and rapid launching of business around complex scenarios, thus supporting more fine-grained and diversified management decisions and urban services.

At the crucial moment when ICT technology is fully penetrating into the society, Xu Zhiyuan, Deputy Director of the Informatization and Industrialization Integration Research Institute, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), also shared his thoughts on the growth of ICT industry and smart cities development.

Xu said that 5G terminals and networks, storage, VR, display, software and IoT devices will become new source of growth of the ICT industry, while smart cities will serve as testing grounds for the integrated application of new technologies and the convergence and innovation of new technologies in various fields. Furthermore, ICT technologies and smart cities will complement and reinforce each other to empower future digital revolutions.

In order to facilitate the visual perception, intelligent cognition and scientific prediction of urban governance, UNISINSIGHT has built a Visual Urban Hub by taking application-driven, full cloud-based, full-stack intelligence and open ecosystem as the core strategies and AI, Big Data and cloud computing as the core technologies. It has established a database of intelligent video cloud for relevant scenarios of digital cities, driving intelligent upgrading of all walks of life.

With regard to this topic, Yu Yufeng, UNISINSIGHT’s senior expert in the government sector, elaborated that UNISINSIGHT provides 11 integrated intelligent video solutions on cloud, edge, and end devices, allowing the convergence, management and sharing of data in all industries through the Visual Urban Hub, which can hence empower intelligent rebirth of key urban scenarios such as transportation, urban management, governments, water conservancy, and office parks.

Smart-City Technologies Bring Smart Cities to Life

Lianyungang government in Jiangsu Province launched an e-government initiative that includes “four ones” — the government website, government cloud, urban mobile client and data resource directory and “three centers” — the Big Data center, operations and manager center and data disaster recovery center to promote its digital transformation, with the help of UniCloud and H3C.

The project of building “digital government” has played a significant role during the outbreak of COVID-19. The functions of the column for COVID-19 prevention and control, COVID-19 prevention and detection system, and mask reservation were timely opened on new service platforms of “Fanliantong” (literally: going back and forth Lianyungang) and “Lianyitong” (literally: gaining an easy access to Lianyungang) through the city’s governmental affairs service APP — “My Lianyungang”. The new functions help provide urban residents with accurate epidemic information and medical security services.

In the era of deep integration of intelligent technology with urban construction, H3C has creatively initiated the layout of smart city business architecture, and reviewed urban operations from the perspective of all-round services centered around people, production and city. Taking City Digital Brain as the pivot, ubiquitous perception and full connection as the antennas, and the integration of the super apps Urban Management and Citizen Service as the channel, H3C will continue to explore new paths for smart city construction, advance industrial development and create a new city life.
