IDC Research Indicates H3C Leads the Way in China’s Campus Switch Market

    07-04-2023

According to China Quarterly Ethernet Switch Tracker, 2022Q4, recently released by International Data Corporation (IDC), H3C ranked first in China’s campus switch market with a share of 36.2% in 2022, establishing the lead position in China’s network market.

In the different stages of network development, H3C stays committed to leveraging applications and technologies to drive product innovation, providing users in the entire industry with end-to-end solutions and full-stack network products. In the campus scenario, H3C switch products also see the accelerated transformation in bandwidth improvement, multi-service integration, security protection, and intelligent O&M to cater to customers' demands for digital production and office work.

 Core Layer

Campus networks have gradually developed towards mobility, intelligence, and high speed, requiring wider bandwidths and stronger integration capabilities from core products. Based on its high-speed forwarding capability, H3C’s new-generation core switch for campuses can easily realize the leapfrog upgrade of bandwidth from 100 Gbps through 200 Gbps to 400 Gbps in the same chassis. With a green design, the product adopts the data-center-level orthogonal CLOS architecture without a central backboard and leverages the technical innovation in port power consumption and in power supply efficiency to greatly reduce the energy consumption during use. Therefore, its total energy consumption is 20% lower compared with previous products, which is more low-carbon and environmentally friendly. In addition, the product boasts a collective integration of security features, wireless functions, and Internet of Things (IoT) technology, as well as the fine visualization of campus traffic, consolidating an intelligent and safe foundation for campus networks.

 Aggregation Layer

As the aggregation node of all functional zones in a campus network, the aggregation layer switch will receive data from multiple access terminals in the zones and face challenges of integration application, centralized management, and security protection in the process of campus digital transformation. Based on traditional box-type aggregation switches, H3C creatively integrates the expansion slot design, which can expand components such as the multi-rate uplink ports, firewall card, and network management function card, greatly improving the integration capability of a single equipment. Multiple management functions can be realized on a single product such as integrated wired and wireless management, firewall security policy, and IoT access management, achieving versatile functions on a single equipment and satisfying the aggregation requirement in different scenarios. In addition to this, for the deployment of an all-optical network, H3C innovatively applies the electrical and optical hybrid cable technology to supply 60-watt PoE++ for access equipment within 300 meters, easily realizing data transmission and power supply at the same time. The cable does not need to be changed in 10-15 years after each routing, further safeguarding the investment of users.

 Access Layer

During the evolution of campus networks, the access layer product series first feels the needs of the scenario and makes corresponding changes. The access layer switch is needed to popularize Wi-Fi 6 and IoT technology, implement the all-optical access concept, and respond to the demanding environments of industrial scenarios. In terms of the direction of product evolution, H3C has launched various product series with strong scenario-based features such as high-power PoE, silent access, and all-optical access according to different usage scenarios, perfectly addressing the differentiated access requirements in the scenarios of classrooms, dormitories, offices, and wards.
