Restrictions and cautions
Before obtaining and installing a license server in your network, check the products for their compatible license server version.
To avoid licensing failure caused by single points of failure, deploy redundant license servers for high availability.
Open problems and workarounds
201906150092
· Symptom: The client cannot obtain licenses from the license server after the server has unexpected power failure or other abnormal conditions.
· Condition: This symptom might occur if the anomalies such as unexpected power failure cause Redis data loss.
· Workaround: Avoid unexpected power failure on the license server during the service interaction. If HA is configured, avoid the simultaneous power failure on the master and standby license servers. Once the problem occurs, force the clients to go offline and to re-apply for licenses.
201908200031
· Symptom: The login page opens after you import a manually modified configuration file and select Configuration > System Configuration from the navigation pane.
· Condition: This symptom might occur if the adminuser node information in the imported configuration file has been changed.
· Workaround: Do not import any manually modified configuration file.
201910250213
· Symptom: It takes much time to load the Overview, License Management > License Resources > License Overview, and License Management > License Resources > License Details pages.
· Condition: This symptom occurs when a large number of activation files are installed on the license server, for example, 20 thousands activation files are installed.
· Workaround: None.
List of resolved problems
Resolved problems in LICENSE_SERVER_E1153
202108180008
· Symptom: The CVE-2021-30640 vulnerability exists.
· Condition: This issue is found through vulnerability scanning.
202108060345
· Symptom: License server HA cluster changed to the fail-safe state upon master/backup switchover that occurred after the hardware information of the backup license server had changed.
· Condition: This symptom occurs after the following series of events has occurred:
a. The hardware information of the backup license server changes.
b. The backup license server takes over the master role before the original master license server obtains the new hardware information of the backup license server.
202108050472
· Symptom: When the license server is in fail-safe state, activation files can be bulk uninstalled. However, they cannot be uninstalled by using their license-specific uninstallation icons in the Actions column.
· Condition: This symptom occurs if you uninstall the activation file for a license by clicking the license-specific uninstallation icon in the Actions column on the License Files page when the license server is in fail-safe state.
202108031089
· Symptom: The following vulnerabilities exist on the HTTPS port:
¡ TLS VERSION 1.0 PROTOCOL DETECTION.
¡ SSL Medium Strength Cipher Suites Supported (SWEET32).
¡ SSL Cipher Block Chaining Cipher Suites Supported.
· Condition: This issue is found through vulnerability scanning with Nessus.
202107280035
· Symptom: After a license server HA cluster is created, the keepalived configuration file does not contain the virtual IP address of the HA cluster. As a result, the backup license server remains in inactive state.
· Condition: This symptom might occur if you configure a license server HA cluster and then quickly click OK twice on the HA configuration page.
202107260085
· Symptom: Failed to set up a license server HA cluster.
· Condition: This symptom occurs if the IP address of a subinterface is assigned to the primary or backup license server.
202107260993
· Symptom: The CVE-2011-1473 vulnerability exists.
· Condition: This issue is found through vulnerability scanning.
202106300234
· Symptom: The CVE-2016-1000031 vulnerability exists.
· Condition: This issue is found through vulnerability scanning.
Resolved problems in LICENSE_SERVER_E1152
202104210033
· Symptom: After the operating system is restarted, the license server service might have exceptions and exit unexpectedly with a low probability.
· Condition: This symptom occurs if the operating system is restarted or the server is powered off and then restarted.
202104190616
· Symptom: When a client synchronizes the license information from the license server, the license server service reboot unexpectedly.
· Condition: This symptom occurs when the following conditions exist:
¡ A client requests a large number of licenses.
¡ These licenses are about to expire or become invalid.
¡ The client synchronizes the license information from the license server.
202103300015
· Symptom: The license server is vulnerable due to the Apache Tomcat security vulnerability CVE-2020-9484.
· Condition: This symptom might occur if Apache Tomcat is of a version earlier than 7.0.103.
Resolved problems in LICENSE_SERVER-E1151
202011240804
· Symptom: On the Web interface of the license server, access menu Configuration > Admin to configure or change the password of an administrator. However, this feature is described as Modifying the login username and password of the system administrator in the online help. The feature description is inconsistent with the function of the feature on the Web interface.
· Condition: This symptom occurs when you view the online help.
202008240720
· Symptom: A client fails to communicate with the license server over an SSL connection. Optimization is required for calling OpenSSL library.
· Condition: This symptom might occur when exceptions exist in the network, for example, network instability.
