Cloud computing has become the cornerstone of the service innovation of all kinds of industries. For Zhejiang Rural Credit Cooperative (ZJRC), cloud computing has long been the key technology to meet the service development challenges. With the development of ZJRC information technology and the deployment of various new services and applications, more and more problems in the existing IT architecture have been exposed in the routine IT construction and O&M. Therefore, ZJRC decided to introduce cloud computing.
The first cloud computing application ZJRC used was "development and test cloud". The original development and test network had a large number of physical servers and was deployed in a decentralized manner, causing low resource utilization and poor O&M management. In addition, many new services were added to ZJRC development and test network and the purchase period was long. Therefore, the system deployment required a great manpower input and it still cannot meet the online requirements.
In view of the actual issues faced by ZJRC, H3C, its cloud computing product provider, provided a solution of cloud computing + hyper-convergence to make development and test cloud. H3C built IT resource pool and made the solidified IT basic resources into dynamic basic resources, improving resource utilization efficiency. Based on this, H3C built a set of Iaas private cloud platform based on Openstack to improve the IT service capability and IT resource utilization of ZJRC, and reduce O&M costs. Through the development and test cloud, the deployment of new services was shortened to tens of minutes compared with the original long process such as plan making, thus improving the efficiency of service deployment and change.
In a specific application, the UIS hyper-converged device greatly improved the computing capability, changed the centralized shared storage into a distributed storage, provided multiple data protection functions, reduced hardware costs of cloud computing, and fully optimized data, services, and maintenance.
After the first successful use of cloud computing application, ZJRC accelerated the cloud construction. In 2017, ZJRC decided to transfer Internet-based services originally running on the public cloud to the private cloud. The private cloud was not only used by Provincial RCCU, but also used as a provincial cloud platform for 81 local and prefectural and municipal RCCU. The provincial and administrative services were deployed uniformly for the corporates of prefectural and municipal RCCU.
ZJRC put forward clear construction objectives, including: The cloud system has high reliability. The service continuity of the whole system needs to be greater than 99.9% in one year (reliability). The system performance should be able to expanded flexibly to cope with some burst and heavy traffic scenarios. The system should also support disaster recovery so that the system can be expanded into two-site disaster recovery modes in the future.
H3C also provided solutions to meet the new requirements of users. As an innovative service of ZJRC, the Internet service's traffic volume in the future is uncertain. H3C proposed an overall solution with the cloud computing and hyper-convergence device as the core.
In the specific application, ZJRC deployed 22 hyper-converged nodes, running services such as RCC e-commerce, O2O, and online finance.
For ZJRC, the scale-out features of H3C cloud computing and hyper-convergence architecture are the most important. With the growth of future services of ZJRC, the system can expand capacity flexibly, add virtual machines with increasing pressure relying on DRX (dynamic resource extension) and other functions, to simplify the O&M management.
The application of cloud computing and hyper-convergence supports the service development of ZJRC. In the future, H3C will continue to help ZJRC to benefit from new technologies.
