H3C Wins Bid for China Telecom’s 2021 Centralized Procurement of STN-ER Equipment

    13-07-2021

H3C has recently been awarded the bid package of China Telecom’s 2021 centralized procurement of Smart Transport Network (STN)-ER equipment. This marks another milestone in joint efforts of H3C and China Telecom to push forward with the innovation and construction of 5G-driven cloud platforms and networks while signifying in-depth engagement of the leading digital solutions provider with China Telecom’s endeavor to integrate 5G technology into its cloud and network businesses.

The recent successful bidding means that H3C has won bid packages in China Telecom’s centralized procurement of STN-ER equipment for two years in a row, as the company has won the same bid package in the telecom giant’s first centralized procurement of 5G STN products last year. Meanwhile, it has once again manifested H3C’s market position as a reliable supplier of carrier-class network products.

In the age of cloud and network integration, diversified businesses and enterprises’ moving onto cloud platforms more rapidly have brought new sources of income to carriers, while raising new requirements for their network architecture. China Telecom, for one, has proposed constructing a new metropolitan area network (MAN) based on 5G STN.

As a supplier of China Telecom’s STN equipment, H3C has not only participated in the carrier’s formulation of new MAN technical specifications and verification schemes, but been comprehensively involved in its MAN testing and piloting since 2019.

Last year, H3C helped China Telecom verify the Spine-Leaf architecture of its new MAN, and the application of Segment Routing over IPv6 dataplane (SRv6), Ethernet Virtual Private Network (EVPN), and Flexible Ethernet (FlexE).

Through Software Defined Network (SDN) decoupling and docking test with a third party, H3C has verified the unified orchestration, unified management and control, and cross-domain collaboration capabilities of its SDN products. With virtualized Multi-Service Engine (vMSE) and Leaf node converged access, H3C has realized the converged bearer capability of offering fixed and mobile services.

The company intends to take its winning the bid package as an opportunity to drive the prosperity and development of China Telecom’s 5G cloud and network services in an all-round way.

H3C’s STN-ER RX8800-16, which won the recent bid package, adopts the only programmable FlexE module of the information and communications technology (ICT) industry and routing devices using self-diagnosing and protection AI technologies, thus being able to meet carriers’ needs for such technologies as those related to large-capacity T-level hardware platforms of 5G bearer networks, FlexE network slicing, EVPN and SRv6. On this basis, cloud-network integration is made possible with SDN controllers.

Based on its Cloud & AI Native strategy and “Digital Brain 2021”, H3C will continuously devote itself to the research and development as well as innovative application of 5G products and solutions, so as to help carriers realize cloud-network integration by offering them products and services covering cloud platforms, networks and security, and work together with them to create a bright future for smart technologies through win-win cooperation.
