Network Solution for Government Affairs Hall

    09-11-2022

1. Background

In recent years, the government has promoted the concept of Internet + government affairs to improve its service abilities. As an important service window for the government and the public, it not only needs to meet the Internet demands of government employees, but also needs to provide the people who handle the business in the hall with an excellent Internet access experience. Moreover, to improve the network response speed and reduce the workload of the O&M personnel, it is necessary to build an intelligent, visualized, and secure government affairs hall.

2. Challenges and requirements

The network construction for the government affairs hall has the following challenges:

* High availability

The centralization of government affairs services and the comprehensive integration of services pose higher requirements for bandwidth and the reliability of service expansion in the future.

* High security

Based on the B/S service mode and C/S service mode, the PC terminals in the hall are vulnerable to threats from viruses and network attacks. Data is only stored locally, making it prone to data leakage if the computer is repaired, lost, or stolen.

* Easy O&M

A lack of skilled technical personnel for the network in the hall makes it urgent to select a proper network architecture and use technical advantages to solve the network O&M difficulties.

Accordingly, the network construction for the government affairs hall needs to meet the following requirements:

* Build a high-bandwidth and low-latency network that allows for the access of multiple terminals, to provide network users in the hall with optimal user experience.

* Build a basic bearer network with a clear structure, scalable system, high security, and simple O&M, so that the network can quickly respond to service changes, eliminate network risks, and accurately locate network faults.

3. Solution overview

The core network of the government affairs hall interacts with and forwards data to the networks in the entire hall, and interconnects with egress devices. This ensures the high-speed forwarding of the internal traffic in the hall and the forwarding of the traffic between the hall and the external network. The solution adopts the network with a 10 Gigabit backbone and Gigabit to desktop. The service center uses new-generation Wi-Fi 6 APs to achieve full Wi-Fi coverage in the hall.

Reliable architecture

The solution uses the dual-device and dual-link design for the backbone network with the virtualization technology, greatly improving system performance and ensuring the high availability of the network.

High security and ease of use

Security blades are deployed on the network egress devices of the hall for network protection. The new IDV architecture replaces the traditional PCs, and the data is stored in the cloud, improving data security. The desktop environment can be created and deployed with one click, and can be managed uniformly, which is easy to use.

Simple O&M

The network switching device integrates SmartMC to perform centralized management of networks and can monitor terminal APs through the ACs.

4. Solution features

Smart and visualized network management

* Smart management: Supports device role configuration, FTP server configuration, global configuration, and network management port configuration.

* Smart O&M: Enables quick group management, upgrade/backup, monitoring, and faulty device replacement.

* Visualization: Enables smart visualization of the device list and network topology.

* Smart servicing: Supports the interconnection with H3C Oasis Smart O&M Platform and smart analysis.

Secure and smart desktop

* The H3C Cloud Desktop-E (also named H3C Desktop-E) solution is a new-generation desktop cloud solution based on the intelligent desktop virtualization (IDV) architecture. It uses an architecture featuring centralized management and decentralized operation. This helps to compensate for the issues such as low performance, poor user experience, and poor peripheral compatibility that may occur in the VDI-based desktop cloud scenario.

High-speed wireless network

The H3C Wi-Fi 6 series products provide the users with a high-speed and smooth wireless network experience based on the following features:

* High bandwidth: The theoretical rate is up to 9.6 Gbps and the theoretical bandwidth increases by four times.

* High concurrency: Theoretically, an AP supports 1024-QAM and the number of supported concurrent users increases by four times.

* Low latency: The service latency can be 20 ms and the average latency decreases by 50%.

* Low power consumption: The power consumption of the wake-up mechanism is reduced, enabling a 30% decrease in power consumption of the terminal.

5. Solution benefits

With the high-speed wireless network, convenient and secure desktop, simple and efficient O&M tools, and reliable security products, this solution helps to build a government affairs hall featuring high availability, high security, and easy O&M. In this way, the government affairs hall can improve its service capabilities and provide users with a better experience.
