MPUs
The switch uses an MPU for control and management. You can install one MPU or two MPUs for redundancy on the switch. Do not install MPUs of different models on the same switch.

Cloud supervisor engine unit
The LSXM1X86SUPE1 cloud supervisor engine unit (SEU) contains a switching control unit and an X86 server unit. The switching control unit is the core of control and switching for the device. The X86 server unit is designed for applications such as virtualization and database to meet IDC and cloud computing requirements.

Interface module adapter
Some S12500-X interface modules (also called LPUs) are compatible with the switch, but the switch has higher and wider LPU slots than the S12500-X switch. To install an S12500-X LPU in an LPU slot, first install an interface module adapter in the slot. The available interface module adapter is LSXM1IMA.
LPUs
The switch supports both the S12500X-AF LPUs and FX and FE series S12500-X LPUs. For the LPU specifications, see Table 6, Table 7, Table 8, Table 10, and Table 10.
S12500X-AF LPUs
No interface module adapter is required to install an S12500X-AF LPU on the switch.
To prevent card damage and ensure correct operation, follow these guidelines before installing LPUs:
· Type F LPUs must be used with Type F switching fabric modules.
· Type H LPUs must be used with Type H switching fabric modules.
· Type T LPUs must be used with Type T switching fabric modules.
To use the LSXM1CGQ48HB1, LSXM1CGQ36HB1, LSXM1CGQ36HF1, LSXM1CGQ18QGHF1, LSXM1CGQ36TD1, LSXM1CGQ48KB1, or LSXM1CDQ24KB1 LPU on the switch, you need to choose high-performance fan trays for the switch. See Table 26 for information about the available fan trays.

NOTE: When an SFP+ port on the LSWM124XG2QL subcard uses an SFP transceiver module to connect the peer port, the SFP+ port does not support autonegotiation of the speed and duplex mode. You need to execute the speed 1000 and duplex full commands to configure the speed and the duplex mode for the SFP+ port and its peer port. |

Switching fabric modules
The S12501X-AF and S12502X-AF switches do not require switching fabric modules.
You can install two to six switching fabric modules on the switch. Do not install switching fabric modules of different models on the same switch.
To prevent card damage and ensure correct operation, follow these guidelines before installing switching fabric modules:
· Type F switching fabric modules must be used with Type F LPUs.
· Type H switching fabric modules must be used with Type H LPUs.
· Type T switching fabric modules must be used with Type T LPUs.
· Type K switching fabric modules must be used with Type K LPUs.

The switch comes with empty switching fabric module slots. For good ventilation, purchase and install filler panels in the empty switching fabric module slots.

The switches (except the S12501X-AF) are not shipped with slide rails. Purchase slide rails for the switches as needed. See Table 18 for the applicable slide rails for the switches.
The slide rails provided with the S12501X-AF switch provide an adjustment range of 552 mm to 1059 mm (21.73 in to 41.69 in).

Power modules
CAUTION: You must install power modules of the same model for the switch. |
The switch supports N+N (two power supply systems) or N+1 (one power supply system) power redundancy. You can install appropriate number of power modules according to the power supply mode and system consumption. Make sure the total maximum output power of the installed power modules is greater than the system power consumption. As a best practice, reserve 20% power.

DC power cords are used for connecting the switch to the external DC power supply system. DC power cords are not provided. You need to order them as required.

AC power cords
An AC power cord is used to connect an AC power module on the switch to an external AC power source. The AC power cords include standard power cords and jumper power cords.
Selection of an AC power cord depends on the power supply (the current-carrying capacity of the power cord must meet the power supply requirement), power supply system in the equipment room, and connector and plug types in the country or region. Make sure you select a compliant power cord for a power supply.
