Digitalization technology is becoming an organic part throughout the society and economy, and is integrating with every social and economic segment, providing us with an unprecedented opportunity to create a better future. To explore digitalization, the 2018 NAVIGATE Summit was held at Chengdu Century City New International Convention & Exhibition Center from March 30 to 31. The summit was sponsored by H3C Group, subsidiary of Tsinghua Unigroup, and was supported by the People's Government of Chengdu and the Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Commission.
The summit, themed “Shaping the digital future”, invited important figures including Fan Ruiping, Sichuan provincial party committee member and Chengdu Party Secretary, Yang Xueshan, ex-Minister of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC and professor at Peking University, and Crawford Del Prete, Executive Vice President and Worldwide Products and Chief Research Officer. Thousands of representatives from the political and corporation world, experts in industries, IT experts and elites from other industries gather at the summit to discuss the cutting-edge technological innovation, industrial transformation and upgrading and ecological building in the new era of digital economy.
The Scene of 2018 NAVIGATE Summit
Key agenda of the summit includes two general meetings, over 20 industrial and technological leadership forums, and an over-10000-square-meter on-site display area and outside real-scene display area for the successful digitalized cases. Three themed display areas for technology, industry and ecological cooperation respectively show H3C’s industry-leading products and technologies, its prospective research achievements in popular fields, scene solutions that are closely related to customers’ demands, and the advantages the H3C’s partner corporations have. Besides, China City Digital Economy Index White Paper (2018) was released during the summit, offering a comprehensive and thorough analysis of the current digitalization conditions, trends and successful practices in 100 Chinese cities.

The combination of digital technologies and traditional industries is creating a brand new future and infinite possibilities. As a necessity for the better survival and development in the digital era, digitalization is becoming a more popular choice for companies and organizations. According to the statistics from IDC, in 2017, 67% of the global top 1000 companies chose to set digitalized transformation as the company’s core strategy.

The process of digitalization is complex, so how to learn about and handle the digitalization strategy? Tony Yu, president and CEO of the New H3C Group, said in his speech that: “The basic aim of digital transformation, is to practice the innovation of products, business and commercial models with the assistance of the strong linkable, converging and deductive ability in the digital world, and to provide better experience for customers at a lower cost and higher efficiency. This means that in the totally digitalized future world, a better digital innovation requires a better understanding of customers’ demands.”
Tony Yu also illustrated the theory of “three phases of digital transformation” in his speech from a specific business prospective in terms of the digital exploration, reconstruction and application. He pointed out that the corporations or organizations will promote digital transformations in phases according to priority levels, and only when all business has entered the third phase can we claim the arrival of a true digital era.
