Create an elastic IP address and assign it to a resource

·          When you create an elastic IP address, you can assign it to an existing cloud host, bare metal node, or load balancer in the system if one of the requirements in "Restrictions and guidelines" is met.

·          You can assign an elastic IP address to a cloud host or load balancer during elastic IP address creation. If the cloud host or load balancer does not exists. You can assign the elastic IP address to the cloud host or load balancer after the cloud host or load balancer is created.

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Elastic IPs from the Network menu.

  1. Click Create. A user can click Apply to apply for an elastic IP address.

  1. Configure elastic IP address parameters as described in Table-1.

Table-1 Configuring elastic IP address parameters

Parameter

Description

Organization

Select an existing organization. The elastic IP will belong to the selected organization. Only system administrators can select a random organization. An organization administrator or user can select only the current organization to which it belongs. The owner options vary by the selected organization.

If the user belongs to multiple organizations at the same time, you can click  on the right of the headshot to switch the current organization to another. The role of the user might change after you switch the current organization.

Owner

Select an existing owner. The selected owner must a user that already exists in the system. This parameter is required and is available only for system administrators and organization administrators.

A system administrator can select a random user in the selected organization (users in suborganizations are not included).

An organization administrator can select itself or a random user in the same organization (users in suborganizations are not included).

A user can select only itself.

Name

Enter a name. This parameter is required.

Elastic Network Subnet

Select an elastic subnet. This parameter is required. To create elastic subnets, see "Create an elastic subnet on an elastic network."

Elastic IP

Enter an elastic IP address. If you leave this parameter empty, the system selects an elastic IP address randomly from the specified elastic subnet.

Outbound/Inbound Bandwidth Limit

Specify whether to enable the bandwidth limit. By default, the inbound and outbound bandwidth limits are enabled. The system prices bandwidth by using the larger one of the inbound and outbound bandwidth limits.

Bandwidth (Mbps)

Set the bandwidth limit in Mbps. Only specific controller versions support this feature.

Type

Select a resource type. Options include Cloud Hosts, Bare Metal, and Load Balancers.

Allocate

Select a resource. When you attach a resource to the elastic IP, the external gateway and the elastic IP of the router bound to the subnet where the resource is located must reside on the same IPv4 network.

For more information about resource binding, see "Restrictions and guidelines".

You can skip this parameter if the resource is not created. After you create the resource, you can continue to assign the elastic IP to that resource. For more information, see "Assign an existing elastic IP address to a resource".

Description

Enter a description for the elastic IP. This parameter is optional.

  1. Click OK.
