Configure an SR-IOV resource pool

Restrictions and guidelines

• You must assign SR-IOV passthrough NICs of the same type to an SR-IOV resource pool.

• You can connect multiple SR-IOV passthrough NICs from the same SR-IOV resource pool to a VM.

• You cannot connect both SR-IOV passthrough NICs and vGPUs to a VM.

• For a VM with SR-IOV passthrough NICs connected and online snapshots created, do not remove the SR-IOV passthrough NICs when the VM is in shutdown state. If you do so, the SR-IOV passthrough NICs are not restored when the VM is restored from an online snapshot.

• If you clone a VM with SR-IOV passthrough NICs connected, the created VM does not have SR-IOV passthrough NICs.

Procedure	Remarks
Enable IOMMU and SR-IOV on a host	Required. You must enable IOMMU on a host before configuring SR-IOV NIC passthrough on the host. For the configuration to take effect, you must restart the host.
Create an SR-IOV resource pool	Required. Perform this task to assign physical SR-IOV passthrough NICs on different hosts in the same cluster to an SR-IOV resource pool.
Connect SR-IOV passthrough NICs to a VM	Required. Perform this task to connect SR-IOV passthrough NICs to a VM.
