Application HA provides quick recovery for services and processes running on OSs of VMs. Application HA provides the following services:
Display real-time availability state of application processes.
Generate an alarm for a failed process and recover the process by restarting the process or VM to reduce the service interruption time.
Add an application monitoring policy—Configure a monitoring policy for the system to monitor a service and specify the actions to take on the failed service and the VM where the service runs.
Add an application monitoring task—Configure the system to monitor services on VMs based on monitoring policies. The maximum numbers of application monitoring tasks supported by a VM, a host, and a cluster are 16, 256, and 1024, respectively.
Enable an application monitoring task—Start an application monitoring task. For more information, see "Manage application HA."
Manage application HA—Manage application monitoring tasks and application monitoring policies.
Application HA relies on cluster HA. Space Console monitors all hosts and VMs in an HA-enabled cluster and obtains process states through CAStools installed on the OS of each VM. Application HA takes effect when the following requirements are met:
HA is enabled for a cluster.
CAStools is installed on VMs in the cluster.
The policy is applied to VMs in the cluster by configuring application monitoring tasks.
