Manage snapshot policies

You can manage snapshots for cloud hosts in the following ways:

• Create a snapshot in real time for a cloud host. For more information, see "Manage cloud host snapshots."

• Apply the specified snapshot policy to one or multiple cloud hosts. A snapshot policy periodically creates snapshots for cloud hosts in bulk, and generates the associated snapshot files.

Restrictions and guidelines

Creating snapshot policies requires using specific CAS versions. For more information, see Key Features and Software Platforms Compatibility Matrix.

Create a snapshot policy

1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

2. From the navigation tree, select Virtualization Snapshot Strategies.

3. Click Create.

4. Configure the following parameters:

• Max Snapshots: Specify the maximum number of snapshots allowed to be created for cloud hosts.

• Memory Snapshot: Specify whether to take a snapshot for the cloud host memory. When the cloud host memory usage is too high, taking snapshot for the memory might suspend services on the cloud host.

• Enable Now: Specify whether to enable the snapshot policy.

• AZ: Select one or multiple AZs that belong to the same CVM.

5. Click Next.

6. On the page that opens, click Add.

7. Select cloud hosts, and then click Add. To remove cloud hosts, select the hosts and click Remove.

8. Click Next.

9. On the page that opens, set the frequency and date and time settings.

10. Click Finish.

Enable or disable a snapshot policy

1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

2. From the navigation tree, select Virtualization Snapshot Strategies.

3. Click On or Close in the Actions column for the target snapshot policy.

4. Click OK.

Edit a snapshot policy

1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

2. From the navigation tree, select Virtualization Snapshot Strategies.

3. Click Edit in the Actions column for the target snapshot policy.

4. Edit the parameters.

5. Click Finish.

Delete a snapshot policy

1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

2. From the navigation tree, select Virtualization Snapshot Strategies.

3. Click Delete in the Actions column for the target snapshot policy.

4. Click OK.
