Storage types are used to classify storage pool resources. Each storage type can contain one or more storage pools. For a cloud host, its storage volumes are hosted by the storage pools of the specified storage type for the cloud host.
The system provides a common storage type by default and assigns storage pools for cloud hosts of the storage type randomly. To assign a specific storage pool to cloud hosts, create a storage type for the storage pool, and then create S-flavors and M-flavors by using the storage type. For more information about creating S-flavors and M-flavors, see "Manage cloud host flavors."
If the CAS virtualization platform is used, make sure all CVK VMs are mounted with the same shared storage pool and have the same local storage pool name.
If the VMware virtualization platform is used, make sure all ESXi VMs are mounted with the same shared storage pool and have the same local storage pool name.
VMware requires storage volumes to use different names.
When the storage type is local file system, the maximum and available storage spaces represent only the local storage conditions of a host. They do not represent the local storage conditions of all hosts.
