Manage RBD storage

A RADOS Block Device (RBD) is software that facilitates the storage of block-based data in the open source Ceph distributed storage system. An RBD can be mounted to a VM. RBD storage management provides the following features:

Restrictions and guidelines

Add an RBD storage pool

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Compute.

  2. From the left navigation pane, select Resource Navigation > All > Resources > Host Pool Name.

  3. Click the RBD Network Storage tab.

  4. Click Add.

  5. Configure the parameters as described in "Parameters."

  6. Click OK.

Edit an RBD storage pool

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Compute.

  2. From the left navigation pane, select Resource Navigation > All > Resources > Host Pool Name.

  3. Click the RBD Network Storage tab.

  4. Click Edit in the Actions column for an RBD storage pool.

  5. Edit the parameters as needed.

  6. Click OK.

Delete an RBD storage pool

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Compute.

  2. From the left navigation pane, select Resource Navigation > All > Resources > Host Pool Name.

  3. Click the RBD Network Storage tab.

  4. Click Delete in the Actions column for an RBD storage pool.

  5. In the dialog box that opens, click OK.

Install an RBD client

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Compute.

  2. From the left navigation pane, select Resource Navigation > All > Resources > Host Pool Name.

  3. Click the RBD Network Storage tab.

  4. Click RBD Client Management.

  5. Select one or multiple hosts, and then click Install.

  6. Click OK.

Upgrade an RBD client

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Compute.

  2. From the left navigation pane, select Resource Navigation > All > Resources > Host Pool Name.

  3. Click the RBD Network Storage tab.

  4. Click RBD Client Management.

  5. Select one or multiple hosts, and then click Upgrade.

  6. Click OK.
