Open Virtualization Format (OVF) is an open standard defining the file format that allows for compatibility of VMs across management platforms.
After you export an OVF template, you can import the OVF template to the system again, and the imported OVF template has the same data as the original VM.
Perform this task to export a VM in shutdown state to an OVF template. Then, you can use the OVF template to create VMs in other systems.
You cannot create an OVF template from a VM that has a floppy disk drive mounted.
A VM in the security zone cannot be exported as an OVF template.
On the top navigation bar, click Compute.
From the left navigation pane, select Resource Navigation > All > Resources > host pool name > host name > VM name or Compute > Host Pool Name > Cluster Name > Host Name > VM Name.
Click More, and then select Export OVF Template.
Click OK.
Export To: Select the location where the OVF template will be exported.
Local Disk: The exported OVF template will be downloaded automatically to a local disk.
Remote Server: Export the OVF template to a remote server. In the current software version, you can export an OVF template only to an FTP server.
IP Address: Specify the IP address of the remote server.
Username: Specify the username for logging in to the remote server.
Password: Specify the password for logging in to the remote server.
Location: Specify the location where the OVF template will be exported.
Port: Specify the port for transferring the OVF template.
