Create a restore point for a VM

Perform this task to create a restore point for a shutdown VM. Then, you can use the restore point to restore the VM to the state when the restore point was created. For more information about restoring VMs, see "Restore VMs."

Prerequisites

Make sure the VM is in shutdown state before creating a restore point.

Restrictions and guidelines

VMs that use RBDs do not support creating recovery points.
Creating a new restore point will overwrite an existing one.
When you create a recovery point for a VM, all snapshots of the VM will be deleted.
You cannot create a restore point for a VM that has external snapshots.
You cannot create an external snapshot for a VM that has a restore point.

Procedure

On the top navigation bar, click Compute.
From the left navigation pane, select Resource Navigation > All > Resources > Host Pool Name > Host Name > VM Name or Compute > Host Pool Name > Cluster Name > Host Name > VM Name.
Click More, and then select Create Recovery Point.
In the dialog box that opens, click OK.
