You can manage migration tasks as follows:
Create a single task or create multiple tasks in bulk.
Start a migration task immediately after the task is created or save the task and then start the task at a specific time as needed.
Start, suspend, finish, or delete a migration task after the task is created.
Only licensed devices can be specified as source devices in migration tasks. A licensed source device can be migrated multiple times through a migration task. A licensed source device can be used to create multiple migration tasks.
Once a migration task is saved or started, the migration license is granted to the source device in the task and cannot be revoked. The source device does not release the migration license even if the system fails to create the migration task for the device. In this situation, please try to create a migration task for the source device again.
A migration task is named as the name of the source device by default.
You must click the Finish button after a migration task finishes. If you do not click Finish, the system automatically performs automatic incremental migration at the configured interval.
The progress of a migration task is calculated through scheduled sampling. When a migration task involves multiple disks, the system might fail to refresh the overall task progress in time. You can view the migration state of each disk in the device information to monitor the task progress.
On the top navigation bar, click Ops.
From the left navigation pane, select Service Ops > Heterogeneous Migration.
Click Create Migration Task.
Select a source device, target VM, select a matching disk for each source disk, and then click Next. To create multiple migration tasks, click Add Migration Task to add more tasks, configure the tasks, and then click Next.
Configure the parameters as described in "Parameters."
To start the migration task immediately, click Start. To start the migration task at a specific time, click Save to save the task to the migration task list and start the task at a specific time as needed.
On the top navigation bar, click Ops.
From the left navigation pane, select Service Ops > Heterogeneous Migration.
Click the Migration Tasks tab.
Select a migration task, click Start in the Actions column for the task, and then click OK in the dialog box that opens.
On the top navigation bar, click Ops.
From the left navigation pane, select Service Ops > Heterogeneous Migration.
Click the Migration Tasks tab.
Select a migration task, click Suspend in the Actions column for the task, and then click OK in the dialog box that opens.
On the top navigation bar, click Ops.
From the left navigation pane, select Service Ops > Heterogeneous Migration.
Click the Migration Tasks tab.
Select a migration task, click Finish in the Actions column for the task, and then click OK in the dialog box that opens.
On the top navigation bar, click Ops.
From the left navigation pane, select Service Ops > Heterogeneous Migration.
Click the Migration Tasks tab.
To delete a migration task, perform either of the following tasks:
On the top navigation bar, click Ops.
From the left navigation pane, select Service Ops > Heterogeneous Migration.
Click the Migration Tasks tab.
Click the name of a source device.
Perform this task to view all migration tasks, and start, finish, or restore a migration task.
To view the migration task list:
On the top navigation bar, click Ops.
From the left navigation pane, select Service Ops > Heterogeneous Migration.
Click the Migration Tasks tab. The system refreshes the task list every 30 seconds.
You can filter the tasks by state and click the icon to refresh the task list.
Create migration tasks:
Destination Match
Source Device: Select a VM or bare metal server for which you want to migrate data. A VM or bare metal server can be used as a source device only if it has a migration client that matches its operating system installed.
Destination VM: Select a destination VM. A VM can be used as a destination VM only if it has been managed by CAS and has a matching migration client installed.
Disk Selection and Match: Select source and destination disks. Make sure the capacity and quantity of the destination disks are not smaller than the source disks. Only system and data disks can be migrated.
Task Settings
Automatic Incremental Migration Interval: Set the interval between one migration task and another migration task triggered by data changes on the source device. Options include Seconds, Minutes, Hours, and Days. The system performs automatic incremental migration at the specified intervals until you click Finish to manually complete the task.
Migration Speed Limit: Set a limit on the bandwidth used in data migration to reduce impact on services. 0 indicates that the no bandwidth limit is set.
Migration Method: Select a migration method. Options include Full and Simple. Full migration migrates all data on the disk, and simple migration migrates only valid data blocks on the disk.
Data Compression: Select whether to compress and then migrate data. Data compression can reduce requirements on the migration bandwidth, but will increase resource consumption of the source device and might affect source device operation.
Off—Does not compress data, which consumes more network resources.
Compression Ratio First—50% data compression ratio before migration, which consumes more CPU resources.
Performance First—30% data compression ratio before migration, which consumes less CPU resources.
