Host maintenance operation management allows operators to perform the following tasks:
Connect to a host—Connect UIS Manager to a host. If you perform this task for a host already connected to UIS Manager, UIS Manager re-establishes the connection to the host. UIS Manager periodically checks all managed hosts. If a host cannot connect to UIS Manager because of network or host failure, the host state icon changes from to
, and all VMs on the host enter unknown state (
).
Shut down a host—Shut down a host in maintenance mode. Only hosts in maintenance mode can be shut down. You can shut down hosts only when the data health score is 100. Abnormal host shutdown might cause host startup failure.
Restart a host—Restart a host in maintenance mode. Only hosts in maintenance mode can be restarted. Please restart hosts as instructed. Abnormal host restart might cause host startup failure.
Switch the UID LED—A UID LED is used to locate a server. You can turn on a UID LED from UIS Manager to help locate a server in the rack.
Shutting down or restarting an abnormal host might cause host startup failure. If such failures occur, contact the technical support.
On the top navigation bar, click Hosts. If the system has multiple clusters, select a cluster from the left navigation pane.
Select a host and click More > Connect Host, or enter the summary page of the host and click More Actions > Connect Host.
Click OK.
On the top navigation bar, click Hosts. If the system has multiple clusters, select a cluster from the left navigation pane.
Select a host and click Shut Down Host, or enter the summary page of the host and click More Actions > Shut Down Host.
Click OK.
On the top navigation bar, click Hosts. If the system has multiple clusters, select a cluster from the left navigation pane.
Select a host and click Restart Host, or enter the summary page of the host and click More Actions > Restart Host.
Click OK.
On the top navigation bar, click Hosts. If the system has multiple clusters, select a cluster from the left navigation pane.
Select a host and access the summary page for the host, click More Actions > Switch UID LED Status.
Select On or Off.
