A desktop image is converted from an image source VM. The operating system, drivers, and required software in the desktop image are installed on the image source VM.

VDI image source VM usage workflow

  1. Create a VDI image source VM/Create a VDI image source VM based on an OVF file/Create a VDI image source VM based on a VHD file: Create an image source VM as a template for publishing desktop images. The operating system, drivers, and required software in the desktop image are installed on the image source VM. You can create a VDI image source VM from scratch, based on an OVF file, or based on a VHD file.

  2. Build a VDI image source VM: Install an operating system, application software, and virtualization agent VdiAgent on an image source VM, and optimize the system services of the image source VM.

  3. Manage a VDI image source VM: Manage the software, hardware, lifecycle, and snapshots for an image source VM.

IDV image source VM usage workflow

  1. Create an IDV image source VM/Create an IDV image source VM based on a VHD file: Create an image source VM as a template for publishing desktop images. 2. Build an IDV image source VM: Install an operating system, drivers, and software on an image source VM, and optimize the system services of the image source VM.

  3. Manage an IDV image source VM: Manage the software, hardware, lifecycle, and snapshots for an image source VM.

VOI/TCI image source VM usage workflow

  1. Create a VOI/TCI image source VM: Create an image source VM as a template for publishing desktop images. The operating system, drivers, and required software in the desktop image are installed on the image source VM.
