A VOI/TCI course is available for classes after it is built. To install software, build a level-2 image.
Major optimizations have been made to the agent component in E1006 and later versions. As a best practice, rebuild VOI/TCI courses after you upgrade the system to E1006 or later. If you do not rebuild the courses, newly added VOI/TCI course functions (such as editing courses) will be unavailable.
A level-2 image can be used only when the level-1 (its parent image) image exists.
During the software installation procedure or on the course console, install an operating system for the course (use Windows 10 as an example):
| The Windows operating system installation procedure might vary by version. This section uses Windows 10 as an example. Install your Windows operating system as needed. |
During the boot process of the course VM, move the mouse to the course VM screen. When prompted Press any key to boot from CD or DVD, press any key immediately. Otherwise, the OS installation cannot be completed.
If you miss the prompt message, click Restart on top of the console.
This step is required only when the boot firmware is UEFI.
After VM startup, the system enters the Windows setup screen. Specify your language and other preferences, click Next, and then click Install Now.
Accept the license agreement, and select Custom: Install Windows only (advanced).
When the system prompts Where do you want to install Windows?, click Load Driver (L). The disk type is Virtio for the VM installation. When you are installing the VM operating system, the disks are not displayed. You must select Load Driver and display disks. Then, you can install the operating system on the specified disk.
In the Load Driver dialog box that opens, click OK.
The dialog box for selecting the driver to be installed opens according to the type of the operating system to be installed, 32-bit or 64-bit.
In the dialog box, keep the Hide drivers that are not compatible with hardware on this computer option selected, select all drivers in the dialog box through pressing CTRL or Shift, and click Next.
| You must load the drivers and make sure all compatible drivers are selected in the driver dialog box. Lack of drivers will affect the proper operation of the course. |
When the system prompts Where do you want to install Windows? again, partition the disks as needed and click Next. Wait until the operating system is installed. During the installation process, the VM might reboot several times.
After the installation is completed, configure basic settings, for example, region, keyboard layout, network, and accounts. If you want to optimize the system later, you must log in as Administrator. The user set here can be only used to enter the desktop after installation. After entering the desktop, you must switch to the Administrator user.
On the Settings > Accounts > Sign in with Microsoft screen, click Domain join instead in the lower left corner.
Create a user account used to enter the desktop after system installation. After completing system setup, enter the Windows desktop.
Switch to the administrator account:
Press shortcut keys Win + X, and then click the Computer Management (G) option.
Click Local Users and Groups. Right-click Administrator, select Set Password (S), right-click Administrator, and then select Properties (R).
In the administrator properties window, clear the Account is Disabled option to enable the administrator account. If you want to customize the course based on the username, configure a password. Then, click OK.
Sign out and then sign in as the Administrator to enter the system desktop.
Press shortcut keys Win + X. In the Local Users and Groups window, right-click the created user account, and then click Delete.
Install software: Install VOI/TCI student client and other required software, such as office software, Sogou input software, and media players. You can upload the required software from the APP Software tab and install the software when you build a course. For more information about how to upload APP software, see "Software applications." The following uses installing a client as an example.
| To use the quiz, score statistics, and game functions, install Chrome browser (Chrome 45 or higher as a best practice) in the course image. For more information, see the teacher client user manual in the education scenario. |
Click Install Template Tool, and then select Attach APP Software Disk. Review the information, and then click OK. You will see the mounted APP software disk after the disk is mounted successfully.
| Before you mount the disk, verify the following information:
|
Copy Learningspace_App from the APP software disk and then decompress it. Run the application, and then click Next in the dialog box that opens.
Select the VOI/TCI endpoint type, select the student client type, and then click Next.
Select an installation path, and then click Install.
Install other software in turn.
Configure and optimize system services.
After basic VM settings are complete, you must optimize the VM to improve VM operation speed and user experience for cloud desktop connection. Skip this step if you are building a level-2 image.
Click Install Template Tool, and then select Mount H3CoptTools.
Enter the CD-ROM, and run the H3COptTools application program.
Select a locale.
Select the education scenario template as the optimization scenario and click Start Scanning.
After the scan finishes, click OK. Select optimization items, and click Optimize Now.
In the VoiAgent installation dialog box, click Next.
In the communication environment settings dialog box, enter the IP address (virtual IP address in the RBM-based hot backup scenario) or domain name (an FQDN) of the management node for Space Console, use the default port number, and then click Next.
Select the target folder for installing VoiAgent, and then click Install.
After the VoiAgent installation is complete, click Finish.
Select a disk for customizing a user profile.
In the CloudDiskClient installation wizard that opens, select the installation path and click Install. After the installation is completed, click Finish.
In the Cloud Driver: License Agreement dialog box that opens, click I accept. In the Cloud driver: installation options dialog box that opens, select the endpoint type corresponding to the course, and click Install. After the installation is complete, click Close.
After performing optimization, restart the operating system to validate the installed software and driver.
After you log in to the operating system, the student client is displayed. Click Return to Local Host and enter password Password@1234 to return to the system desktop.
Finish and publish the VOI/TCI course: After system service configuration and optimization, shut down the course operating system. Then, click Finish & Release on the software installation page or click Publish under the course on the course list page, and select the storage path for the course image. When you publish a course, you can select a storage path created on the Data Center > Teaching Storage > GlusterFS Settings page or Data Center > Teaching Storage > Course Storage Pool Settings page.
