Webpage redirection is configured through a global policy. Webpage redirection redirects webpages accessed through Chrome on a desktop to the endpoint for direct access. Accessing webpages on the endpoint locally has similar display effect as accessing them on a desktop. This feature reduces cloud resource usage while ensuring the user experience.
Webpage redirection is applicable to scenes where online videos are played or other resource-consuming webpages are accessed on the cloud desktop. This feature reduces the pressure on servers while proving high Web operation quality.
Enable webpage redirection globally.
Enable webpage redirection for predefined or user-added website addresses.
On the cloud desktop, load the webpage redirection extension program by using the developer mode of the Chrome browser, and enable webpage. The Chrome browser will redirect webpages from the website addresses enabled with webpage redirection. A webpage redirection flag appears in the upper right corner of the Chrome browser.
Webpage redirection is applicable only to VDI clients, and endpoints must be Windows, Linux X86, or Linux ARM32.
To use webpage redirection, cloud desktops must be able to access the external network.
To use webpage redirection, make sure the endpoint can directly or indirectly access the external network. If the endpoint cannot access the external network directly, you can configure an authorization policy to enable HTTP proxy.
If webpage redirection is enabled for multiple website addresses, the system determines whether to redirect webpages according to the performance of the endpoint. If the endpoint has sufficient resources, multiple websites can be redirected at the same time. If the endpoint has insufficient resources, it is possible that no webpage can be redirected.
If all users use the webpage redirection function, you can install Chrome 63 or a higher version (32-bit or 64-bit) when creating desktop images. If only one user uses the webpage redirection function, you can install Chrome 63 or a higher version (32-bit or 64-bit) after the user obtains the cloud desktop. Webpage redirection requires the webpage redirection extension of the browser. For more information, see H3C Workspace Cloud Desktop Video Redirection Configuration Guide.
