Manage operator groups

An operator group is a group of operators that have the same access authorities. You can configure multi-level subgroups for an operator group and assign different authorities to different groups.

 

Restrictions and guidelines

• The system administrator group and security auditor group are predefined groups and cannot be deleted.

• You cannot add subgroups to the security auditor group.

• Before deleting an operator group, delete all its subgroups.

• If you assign permissions for system resources, such as cluster, host, and VM for an operator group to another operator group, the original operator group will not have the permissions. Before you perform this operation, verify the permissions of this and the target operator groups.

Add an operator group

1. On the top navigation bar, click System, and then select Operators & Groups > Operator Groups from the navigation pane.

2. Click Add Group.

3. Configure the operator group parameters as described in "Parameters."

4. Click Finish.

Add a subgroup for an operator group

1. On the top navigation bar, click System, and then select Operators & Groups > Operator Groups from the navigation pane.

2. To add a subgroup for a parent group, click the  icon for the group.

3. To add a subgroup for a child group, click the  icon on the left of its parent group, and then click the  icon for the child group.

4. Configure the parameters as described in "Parameters."

5. Click Finish.

Edit an operator group

1. On the top navigation bar, click System, and then select Operators & Groups > Operator Groups from the navigation pane.

2. To edit a parent group, click the  icon for the group.

3. To edit a child group, click the  icon on the left of its parent group, and then click the  icon for the child group.

4. Configure the parameters as described in "Parameters."

5. Click Finish.

Delete an operator group

1. On the top navigation bar, click System, and then select Operators & Groups > Operator Groups from the navigation pane.

2. To delete a parent group, click the  icon for the group.

3. To delete a child group, click the  icon on the left of its parent group, and then click the  icon for the child group.

4. In the dialog box that opens, click OK.

Parameters

• Manage Subgroup: Configure whether the operators of the group can manage the subgroups of the group.

• Privileges: Assign permissions to the operator group.
