Table-1 Creating a subnet

Parameter

Description

Name

Specify a name for the subnet. The subnet name must be a string of 1 to 64 characters. It cannot contain Chinese characters, full-width characters, or the special characters within parentheses (\/:*?"<>|@#;,). Additionally, it cannot start or end with a space or period (.).

IP Version

Select the IP version. Options include IPv4 and IPv6. By default, the IP version is IPv4.

Subnet Address

Specify the subnet address.

  • If the IP version is IPv4, click the input box and select a network segment. This field displays available network segment or subnet segment configured for the organization on the System > Organization Management > Quotas page.

·          If the IP version is IPv6, you must specify the IPv6 address settings and subnet address. Select the address obtaining mode. By default, the mode is Static.

  • Static—Uses manually specified host address, prefix length, and gateway address. Use static IP addresses for router interfaces instead of hosts. In this mode, IPv6 autoconfiguration features do not take effect.

  • SLAAC—Enables IPv6 nodes to obtain IPv6 prefixes from router RA packets and generate IPv6 addresses by using the prefixes and interface identifiers.

  • DHCPv6-stateless—Enables IPv6 nodes to obtain IPv6 addresses through SLAAC and obtain other information from the DHCPv6 server.

  • DHCPv6-stateful—Enables IPv6 nodes to obtain all interface parameters from the DHCPv6 server.

Gateway Address

Specify the gateway address. If you do not specify the address, the system assigns the first address in the specified network segment as the gateway address.

Description

Enter a subnet description of 0 to 128 characters.

DHCP

Select whether to enable DHCP.

This field is available only when the IP version is IPv4.

With DHCP enabled, cloud hosts in the subnet can obtain IPv6 addresses automatically. With DHCP disabled, you must specify IPv6 addresses for cloud hosts at host creation or access the console of each cloud host to specify an IPv6 address.

Available Addresses

Specify the range of IP addresses that can be assigned to cloud hosts.

DNS

Specify the IP address of the DNS server. You can specify a DNS server configured on the Cloud Service > Networks > DNS page or specify an existing third-party DNS server.

Routes

Configure static routes for cloud hosts or bare metal nodes in the subnet.

You can configure a maximum of five static routes.

  • Destination Address: Specify the destination network, such as 192.168.100.0/24.

  • Next Hop Address: Specify a next hop address that can reach the bare metal or cloud host instances.

  1. Click OK.
