Create a peering connection

An organization administrator can create peering connections for resources only in its organization.

 

You can set up peering connections between VPCs or classic networks when deployment mode selection is enabled or disabled.

Create a peering connection with deployment mode selection disabled

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Peering Connections from the Network menu.

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Advanced Settings > Peering Connection Settings.

  1. Disable deployment mode selection.

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Peering Connections.

  1. Click Create.

  1. Configure the peering connection parameters.

Basic Info

Name

Enter a name for the peering connection.

Local Resource

Resource Type

Select VPC or router as the local network type.

Local VPC/Local Router

Select a local VPC or a router of a local classic network.

Local Subnets

Select the local subnets that require Layer 3 connectivity to the peer resources. If you do not select any subnets, you cannot select subnets when you edit the peering connection.

Peer Resource

Organization

Select the current organization or a different organization.

Peer Organization

Select a peer organization. The peering connection is set up after an organization administrator of the peer organization accepts the peering connection request.

This parameter is available if Other Organization is selected for the Organization parameter.

Resource Type

Select VPC or router as the peer network type. Make sure the local and peer resource types are consistent.

Peer VPC/Peer Router

Select a peer VPC or a router of a peer classic network.

Peer Subnets

Select the peer subnets that require Layer 3 connectivity to the local resources. If you do not select any subnets, you cannot select subnets when you edit the peering connection.

 

  1. Click Create Now.

If the peering connection is set up within an organization, the state of the peering connection is Accepted. If the peering connection is set up between two organizations, the state of the peering connection is Pending. The state will become accepted after the peering connection is accepted by the peer organization.

Create a peering connection with deployment mode selection enabled

With deployment mode selection enabled, you can set the state of firewalls and select whether to set up a peering connection between selected subnets.

Prerequisites

Enabling peering connections requires using specific controller versions. For more information, see Key Features and Software Platforms Compatibility Matrix.

Procedure

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Peering Connections from the Network menu.

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Advanced Settings > Peering Connection Settings.

  1. Enable deployment mode selection.

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Peering Connections.

  1. Click Create.

  1. Configure the following parameters in addition to the parameters in Table-1.

Centralized Deployment

To set up a peering connection between selected subnets and set the state of firewalls, select this option. You must select subnets in this mode.

Distributed Deployment

To set up a peering connection between VPCs and subnets, select this option. Firewalls are disabled in this mode, and you cannot select subnets.

Firewall

On

Enable the firewall in centralized deployment mode.

Off

Disable the firewall in centralized deployment mode.

 

  1. Click Create Now.

If the peering connection is set up within an organization, the state of the peering connection is Accepted. If the peering connection is set up between two organizations, the state of the peering connection is Pending. The state will become accepted after the peering connection is accepted by the peer organization.
