Release an elastic IP address

To remove an elastic IP address from the elastic IP address list, release the elastic IP address. That elastic IP address will be released back to its subnet. To save resources, release unused elastic IP addresses.

You can release only unassigned elastic IPs. To release an elastic IP that has been assigned to a resource instance, reclaim the elastic IP first. For more information about reclaiming elastic IPs, see "Reclaim an elastic IP address."

To release an elastic IP address:

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Elastic IPs from the Network menu.

  1. Perform either of the following tasks:

  1. In the dialog box that opens, click OK.

Reclaim an elastic IP address

You can reclaim an elastic IP address from one resource and assign it to another resource. For example, you can reclaim an elastic IP address from a failed cloud host and assign it to a backup cloud host to prevent the failure from interrupting communication with the public network. To assign an elastic IP address to a resource, see "Assign an existing elastic IP address to a resource."

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Elastic IPs from the Network menu.

  1. Click More for an assigned elastic IP address and then select Reclaim.

  1. In the dialog box that opens, click OK.

Reset elastic IP charge

Perform this task to reset the charge record of an elastic IP and retrigger the billing policy.

You can reset the charge record for a single elastic IP or multiple elastic IPs in bulk. When you reset the charge record of an elastic IP, you can set the reset time point. The system clears the charge record generated before the reset time point, and then starts charging for the elastic IP at the reset time point. When you reset the charge record for multiple elastic IPs in bulk, you cannot set the reset time point and the system will start charging for those elastic IPs at the current time point.

·          Only system administrators can reset elastic IP charge.

·          This task is available only for those elastic IPs that have a charge record.

·          When you reset the charge record of a single elastic IP, the reset time cannot be earlier than the generation time of the earliest charge record.

To reset elastic IP charge:

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Elastic IPs from the Network menu.

  1. To reset the charge record of an elastic IP:

  1. Select the target elastic IP, and then click More > Reset Fee.

  1. Configure the reset time point as needed.

  1. Click OK.

  1. To reset the charge record of multiple elastic IPs in bulk:

  1. Select the target elastic IPs, and then click the Reset Fee button above. The reset time is not editable.

  1. Click OK.

Edit the bandwidth limit on an elastic IP address

You can edit the bandwidth limit only for assigned and unassigned elastic IP addresses. To edit the bandwidth limit for a partially assigned elastic IP address, first reclaim it as described in "Reclaim an elastic IP address."

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Elastic IPs from the Network menu.

  1. Click More for an unassigned elastic IP address and then select Set Bandwidth.

  1. Edit the bandwidth limit settings as needed, and then click OK.
