Manage disks for cloud hosts

You can perform this task to attach cloud disks to cloud hosts or detach cloud disks from cloud hosts. Cloud disks provide block storage, which can be formatted or used to create file systems like physical disks. For more information, see cloud disks in the cloud services guide.

Attach cloud disks to a cloud host

Restrictions and guidelines

IDE cloud disks do not support hot attachment to cloud hosts. To have the configuration take effect, you must restart the related cloud hosts.

Procedure

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

  1. Click More for the target cloud host and then select Attach Disk. If you have enabled Configure a device name in mounting a cloud disk to a cloud host in cloud host settings, you can customize the device name in the Device Name column.

  1. Click Attach for the target cloud disks.

Detach cloud disks from a cloud host

Restrictions and guidelines

This task will interrupt services provided by the cloud host. Before performing this task, make sure the cloud host services are allowed to be interrupted.

IDE cloud disks do not support hot detachment from cloud hosts.

Procedure

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

  1. Click More for the target cloud host and then select Detach Disk.

  1. Click Detach for the target cloud disks.
