To manage external compute resources in different virtualization systems from CloudOS, configure virtualization settings for accessing those systems. You do not need to configure virtualization settings if you are adding CVK nodes to the cloudOS compute resource pool.
CloudOS displays the compute resource pools in the left Virtualization menu pane after it obtain information about compute resource pool from the external virtualization systems. For more information about virtualization task selection, see "About virtualization."
Virtualization management contains the following tasks:
Add settings for accessing a virtualization platform
Filter virtualization platforms
Delete the settings for accessing an external virtualization platform
To avoid conflict, the management IP address of an external virtualization platform cannot be the same as the IP address of any NIC on the hosts that deploy the system cluster. A cluster name cannot start or end with a space and cannot contain consecutive spaces. In addition, a VMware cluster name cannot contain the backslash (\), forward slash (/), percentage sign (%), or consecutive duplicate special characters. |
On the top navigation bar, click Resources.
From the left navigation pane, select Virtualization.
Click Virtualization Settings at the upper right of the page.
Click Create.
Select the hypervisor type of the virtualization platform, enter its management IP address, and then enter the username and password for accessing the platform.
Click OK.
Verify that the virtualization platform has been added to the Virtualization menu pane.
Perform this task to find external virtualization platforms of interest by platform management IP address or hypervisor.
On the top navigation bar, click Resources.
From the left navigation pane, select Virtualization.
Click Virtualization Settings at the upper right of the page.
Perform this task to change the username or password for accessing a virtualization platform. Make sure the changed settings are the same as the settings on the virtualization platform.
On the top navigation bar, click Resources.
From the left navigation pane, select Virtualization.
Click Virtualization Settings at the upper right of the page.
Click Edit for a virtualization platform.
Edit the username and password settings, and then click OK.
Delete settings for accessing an external virtualization platform if you do not need to obtain its data or use it for compute services.
On the top navigation bar, click Resources.
From the left navigation pane, select Virtualization.
At the upper right, click Virtualization Settings.
Click Delete for a virtualization platform.
