Perform this task to view the following information about a VM: CPU usage, memory usage, I/O throughput statistics, network throughput statistics, disk I/O delay, disk request statistics, CPU frequency, disk usage, number of connections, and partition usage. Viewing partition usage is not supported by ARM hosts. If the VM is configured with vGPUs, you can also view the following information about a VM: GPU/vGPU usage, GPU/vGPU video memory usage, GPU/vGPU encoding rate, and GPU/vGPU decoding rate.
Space Console obtains the CPU usage and the memory usage of a VM through CAStools. For correct monitoring of the CPU usage and the memory usage, please install CAStools on a VM.
The system cannot obtain information about a VM and does not display the disk usage or partition usage when the VM is in shutdown or suspended state or CAStools is not installed. Viewing partition usage is not supported by ARM hosts.
During an online VM migration, the CPU usage, memory usage, I/O throughput, and network throughput of the migrated VM might be incorrect.
From the left navigation pane, select Data Center >Virtualization > Cluster name > Host name > VM name.
Click the Performance Monitoring tab.
Select the search date from the date box under the Performance Monitoring tab as required. By default, the system displays the trend of each metric over the last 30 minutes.
CPU Usage: CPU usage trend graph. The horizontal axis represents the time, and the vertical axis represents the CPU usage.
Memory Usage: Memory usage trend graph. The horizontal axis represents the time, and the vertical axis represents the memory usage.
I/O Throughput: I/O throughput trend graph for each disk. The horizontal axis represents the time, and the vertical axis represents the I/O throughput in KBps.
Network Throughput: NIC throughput trend graph. The horizontal axis represents the time, and the vertical axis represents the NIC throughput in Mbps.
Disk I/O Delay: Average I/O delay per 30 seconds for each disk. The horizontal axis represents the time, and the vertical axis represents the I/O delay in milliseconds.
IOPS: Average requests of each disk per 30 seconds. The horizontal axis represents the time, and the vertical axis represents the number of requests.
Connections: TCP connection count trend graph for the past 30 minutes. The horizontal axis represents the time, and the vertical axis represents the real-time count of TCP connections in established state. This graph is available only after you install CAStools on VMs.
CPU Frequency: CPU frequency trend graph. The horizontal axis represents the time, and the vertical axis represents the CPU frequency of the host where the VM resides in MHz.
Disk Usage: Disk usage trend graph. The horizontal axis represents the time, and the vertical axis represents the disk usage in percentage. The disk usage is equal to the used space of the disk divided by the total disk space of the VM.
Partition Usage: Information about each partition. The VM system memory occupies storage space. Therefore, the used system partition size might be different from the used disk size displayed on the page for editing a VM. Viewing partition usage is not supported by ARM hosts.
GPU/vGPU Usage: GPU/vGPU usage trend graph. The horizontal axis represents the time, and the vertical axis represents the GPU/vGPU usage.
GPU/vGPU Video Memory Usage: GPU/vGPU video memory usage trend graph. The horizontal axis represents the time, and the vertical axis represents the GPU/vGPU video memory usage.
GPU/vGPU Encoding Rate: GPU/vGPU encoding rate trend graph. The horizontal axis represents the time, and the vertical axis represents the GPU/vGPU encoding rate.
