Manage VM states

VM state management includes the following topics:

Start a VM

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Data Center >Virtualization > Cluster name > Host name > VM name.

  1. Click Start.

  1. Click OK to start the VM.

Shut down a VM

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Data Center >Virtualization > Cluster name > Host name > VM name.

  1. Click Shut Down.

  1. Click OK to shut down the VM.

Power off a VM

Performing this task might cause data loss. As a best practice, shut down a VM instead of powering it off.

 

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Data Center >Virtualization > Cluster name > Host name > VM name.

  1. Click Power Off.

  1. Click OK to power off the VM.

Restart a VM

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Data Center >Virtualization > Cluster name > Host name > VM name.

  1. Click Restart.

  1. Click OK to restart the VM.

Suspend a VM

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Data Center >Virtualization > Cluster name > Host name > VM name.

  1. Click Suspend.

  1. Click OK to suspend the VM.

Resume a VM

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Data Center >Virtualization > Cluster name > Host name > VM name.

  1. Click Resume.

  1. Click OK to resume the VM.

Hibernate a VM

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Data Center >Virtualization > Cluster name > Host name > VM name.

  1. Click Hibernate.

  1. Click OK to hibernate the VM.
