Firewall resources

This section describes how to manage and use firewall resources that have been deployed in the organizations of the private cloud or in an organization and its child organizations on the VDC.

The following features are available:

• Attach a firewall resource to a router.

• Detach a firewall resource from a router.

• Edit the rule set for a firewall resource.

• Manage rules.

• Delete a firewall resource.

Attach a firewall resource to a router

Perform this task only on firewall resources that have not been attached to routers. The state of a firewall resource changes from Inactive to Active after it is attached to a router.

A firewall resource can be attached only to one router.

 

1. On UIS Cloud, click Cloud Services on the top navigation bar. On the UIS-Sec portal of UIS Manager Standard Edition, click Network Services on the top navigation bar.

2. From the left navigation pane, click VDC.

3. Click the icon of a firewall resource.

4. Click Attach to Router.

5. Click the  icon in the Actions column for a router.

Detach a firewall resource from a router

Perform this task only on firewall resources that have been attached to routers. The state of a firewall resource changes from Active to Inactive after it is detached from a router.

1. On UIS Cloud, click Cloud Services on the top navigation bar. On the UIS-Sec portal of UIS Manager Standard Edition, click Network Services on the top navigation bar.

2. From the left navigation pane, click VDC.

3. Click the icon of a firewall resource.

4. Click Detach from Router.

5. Click OK.

Edit the rule set for a firewall resource

Perform this task to modify the rule set associated with a firewall resource. You can add rules to or remove rules from the rule set.

1. On UIS Cloud, click Cloud Services on the top navigation bar. On the UIS-Sec portal of UIS Manager Standard Edition, click Network Services on the top navigation bar.

2. From the left navigation pane, click VDC.

3. Click the icon of a firewall resource.

4. Click Edit Rule Set.

5. Configure the description and rules. To add rules to the rule set, click the Add icon  or the Add All icon . To remove rules from the rule set, click the Remove icon  or the Remove All icon . To change the priority of a rule, drag the rule up or down.

6. Click OK.

Manage rules

1. On UIS Cloud, click Cloud Services on the top navigation bar. On the UIS-Sec portal of UIS Manager Standard Edition, click Network Services on the top navigation bar.

2. From the left navigation pane, click VDC.

3. Click the icon of a firewall resource.

4. Click Manage Rules. On the page that opens, create, edit, or delete rules.

Delete a firewall resource

Perform this task to delete firewalls in inactive state.

1. On UIS Cloud, click Cloud Services on the top navigation bar. On the UIS-Sec portal of UIS Manager Standard Edition, click Network Services on the top navigation bar.

2. From the left navigation pane, click VDC.

3. Click the icon of a firewall resource.

4. Click Delete.

5. Click OK.
