Manage external VM snapshots

Restrictions and guidelines

For UniCloud Usphere and external CAS, manage VM snapshots from the Snapshot Management tab on the VM summary page.

Create a snapshot for an external VM

1. On the top navigation bar, click Local Resources, and then select an external platform.

2. Click the VM List tab, click More in the Actions column for the target external VM, and then select Snapshot.

3. On the VM Snapshot Management window, click Create.

4. Configure the snapshot parameters as described in "Parameters."

5. Click OK.

Edit a snapshot of an external VM

1. On the top navigation bar, click Local Resources, and then select an external platform.

2. Click the VM List tab, click More in the Actions column for the target external VM, and then select Snapshot.

3. Select the target snapshot, and then click Modify.

4. Edit the snapshot name and description as needed.

5. Click OK.

Restore a snapshot of an external VM

1. On the top navigation bar, click Local Resources, and then select an external platform.

2. Click the VM List tab, click More in the Actions column for the target external VM, and then select Snapshot.

3. Select the target snapshot, and then click Restore.

4. In the dialog box that opens, click OK.

Delete a snapshot of an external VM

1. On the top navigation bar, click Local Resources, and then select an external platform.

2. Click the VM List tab, click More in the Actions column for the target external VM, and then select Snapshot.

3. To delete one snapshot, select the snapshot, click Delete, and then click OK in the dialog box that opens.

4. To delete all snapshots, click Delete All, and then click OK in the dialog box that opens.

Parameters

• Memory Snapshot: Select whether to take snapshot of the VM memory.

• Quiesced Snapshot: Enable this feature to suspend all running processes on the VM before taking the snapshot to ensure that the snapshot state is consistent with the state of the VM when the snapshot was taken. This feature is available only when the VM is installed with VMware Tools.
