Manage external platforms

After incorporating a VMware vCenter, UniCloud Usphere, or external CAS into CAS, you can centrally manage cloud resources of the external platform and migrate VMs on the hosts in the VMware vSphere to CAS.

Restrictions and guidelines

• To avoid VM migration failures, do not add an external platform to multiple CAS platforms.

• The maximum length of the username and password for accessing an external platform is 128. If your password exceeds the limit, contact Technical Support.

Add an external platform

1. On the top navigation bar, click Resources, and then select External Platform from the left navigation pane.

2. On the External Platform List tab, click Add External Platform.

3. Configure the parameters as described in "Parameters."

4. Click OK.

View detailed information about an external platform

1. On the top navigation bar, click Resources, and then select External Platform from the left navigation pane.

2. On the External Platform List tab, click View in the Actions column for the target external platform.

Edit an external platform

1. On the top navigation bar, click Resources, and then select External Platform from the left navigation pane.

2. On the External Platform List tab, click Edit in the Actions column for the target external platform.

3. Edit the parameters as described in "Parameters."

4. Click OK.

Delete an external platform

1. On the top navigation bar, click Resources, and then select External Platform from the left navigation pane.

2. On the External Platform List tab, click Delete in the Actions column for the target external platform.

3. In the dialog box that opens, click OK.

Parameters

• Type: Select an external platform type, which can be VMware vSphere, UniCloud Usphere, or H3C CAS.

• Name: Enter a name for the external platform. This name will be displayed in the external platform list on CAS.

• IP Address: Enter the management IP address of the external platform.

• Login Mode: Select the protocol that is used to access the external platform. Options include HTTP and HTTPS.

• Port Number: Enter the port number that is used to access the external platform. The default port number is 80 for HTTP and 443 for HTTPS.

• Username: Enter the username that is used to access the external platform. The maximum length is 128.

• Edit Password: When you edit an external platform, you can select whether to edit its password.

• Password: Enter the password that is used to access the external platform. The maximum length is 128.
