You can perform the following tasks on external VMs:
Restart an external VM—Perform this task to restart a running or suspended VM.
Start an external VM—Perform this task to start a shutdown VM.
Suspend an external VM—Perform this task to suspend a running VM. The data in the flash memory of a suspended VM will not be cleared.
Shut down an external VM—Perform this task to shut down a VM. Before shutting down a VM, the system will save the data in the operating system of the VM. Whether a VM can be shut down successfully depends on the operating system of the VM. Therefore, the actual state of the VM might be different from that displayed on CAS. As a best practice, shut down a VM on its operating system instead of CAS.
Power off an external VM—Perform this task to power off a VM. Data that is not saved before the power off will be lost. As a best practice to avoid data loss, shut down instead of powering off VMs.
You can manage external VMs only after you register a CAS enterprise enhanced edition.
Shutting down, suspending, or restarting an external VM will cause service interruption. Please be cautious.
You cannot shut down a VMware VM on CAS if the VMware VM is not installed with VMware tools.
