Perform this task to import or restore VMs by using VM backup files.
Make sure the VM to import or restore is not in the recycle bin.
Importing the backup file of a VM in shutdown state will overwrite the original VM, deleting the snapshot, and restoring the VM to the state when the data was backed up.
On the top navigation bar, click Resources.
From the left navigation pane, select Compute > Host Pool Name > Cluster Name > Host Name or Compute > Host Pool Name > Host Name.
Click Import VM.
Configure the parameters as described in "Parameters" or click Select Backup Policy to select a backup policy.
Specify data source:
Recovery Mode: Select a recovery mode.
Local: Import or restore VMs from local files.
FTP: Import or restore VMs from the remote FTP server.
SSH/SCP: Import or restore VMs from the remote SSH/SCP server.
IP Address: Enter the IP address of the remote server. This parameter is required if you select FTP or SSH/SCP.
Username: Enter the username used to access the remote server. If you select FTP, the account must be created on the remote FTP server. If you select SSH/SCP, the account must be created on the remote SSH/SCP server.
Password: Enter the password of the username. This parameter is required if you select FTP or SSH/SCP.
Location: Enter the directory that stores VM backup files, /vms/images for example.
Temp Directory: Enter the temporary directory used for VM import or recovery. If the specified directory does not exist, the system automatically creates the directory during the import or recovery.
New VM Alias: Enter a new VM alias. The imported VM will be renamed based on the new VM alias you specified. If you do not specify a new VM alias, the imported VM uses the original name.
