Table-1 Configure vNIC parameters
Parameter |
Description |
Owner |
Specify the user that uses the vNIC. A cloud administrator can select the current account or any other account. An organization administrator can select the current account or any other account in the organization. A common user can select only the current account. |
Network |
Specify the network to which the vNIC belongs. |
IP Address |
Specify an IP address for the vNIC. If you do not specify an IP address, the system automatically assigns an IP address from the specified network to the vNIC. |
MAC |
Specify a MAC address for the vNIC. If you do not specify a MAC address, the system automatically assigns a MAC address to the vNIC. |
Security Groups |
Specify security groups for the vNIC. As a best practice, specify only one security group for a vNIC. This is because even if multiple groups are specified, only one randomly selected group takes effect, which might cause confusion. |
For a cloud host to communicate with a network, you must first attach a vNIC for the network to the cloud host.
To attach vNICs to a cloud host:
On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services.
From the left navigation pane, select Compute & Compute > Cloud Hosts.
Click the Attach icon for the target vNICs. To configure the vNIC as the default gateway, click the icon next to the Attach icon.
Perform this task to change the security groups to which a vNIC belongs.
As a best practice, specify only one security group for a vNIC. This is because even if multiple groups are specified, only one randomly selected group takes effect, which might cause confusion. |
To edit security groups for a vNIC:
On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services.
From the left navigation pane, select Compute & Compute > vNICs.
Add or remove security groups as needed.
Click OK.
Perform this task to specify reserved IP addresses for a vNIC to allow the attached cloud host to communicate by using a reserved IP address. If a specified IP address is no longer in use, remove the IP address to release resources.
Make sure reserved IP addresses are configured for the legacy network. For more information, see networks in Network and Security. |
To configure excluded IP addresses:
On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services.
From the left navigation pane, select Compute & Compute > vNICs.
Enter an IP address to be excluded and then click Add. To remove an excluded IP, select the IP address, and then click Delete.
Click OK.
To detach vNICs from a cloud host:
On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services.
From the left navigation pane, select Compute & Compute > Cloud Hosts.
Perform this task to delete unused vNICs to release vNIC resources.
To delete vNICs:
On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services.
From the left navigation pane, select Compute & Compute > vNICs.
Perform either of the following tasks:
To delete multiple vNICs, select the vNICs, and then click Delete above the cloud host list.
Click OK.
A resource flavor determines the specification of resources of this type that can be allocated to users.
You can create only S-flavors and the flavor value can only be 1. |
On the top navigation bar, click Cloud O&M.
From the left navigation pane, select Resource Flavors > Resource Flavors.
Select vNIC from the Service Type list.
