Each cloud host has one or multiple vNICs. The operating system and applications on a cloud host communicate with the vNICs through commonly used device drivers. The vNICs have their own MAC address and one or multiple IP addresses, and support standard Ethernet protocols like physical NICs.
The vNIC service is a cloud service for unified management of network connections for all cloud hosts in UIS.
A NIC with the name in the format of xxx_VirtualNIC_xxxxxx is the NIC automatically created on the creation of a cloud host. The xxx argument is the cloud host name, and the xxxxxx argument is the last three bytes in the MAC address of the vNIC.
If a vNIC is created along with the cloud host, detaching the vNIC from the cloud host will also deletes the vNIC in UIS. To attach a vNIC to a CAS cloud host after detaching a vNIC from the cloud host, reboot the cloud host first.
You cannot delete a vNIC attached to a cloud host.
Detaching a vNIC from a cloud host will interrupt services running on that cloud host. Make sure you are fully aware of the impact of this operation on your network.
On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services.
From the left navigation pane, select Compute & Storage > vNICs.
Click Create.
Configure the vNIC parameters as required. For more information, see "Parameters."
Click OK.
On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services.
From the left navigation pane, select Compute & Storage > vNICs.
On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services.
From the left navigation pane, select Compute & Storage > vNICs.
Click the name of a vNIC to view its information.
To edit the security groups, click Edit Security Group.
On the Operation Logs tab, view the operation log information about the vNIC.
To detach the attached vNIC, in the Basic Info area, click the
icon and select Detach from Cloud Host. Then, click OK in the dialog box that opens.
To delete the vNIC, in the Basic Info area, click the
icon and select Delete. Then, click OK in the dialog box that opens.
On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services.
From the left navigation pane, select Compute & Storage > vNICs.
Perform this task to detach a vNIC that has been attached to a cloud host. A vNIC assigned with a public IP address cannot be detached.
To detach vNICs from a cloud host:
On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services.
From the left navigation pane, select Compute & Storage > vNICs.
In the dialog box that opens, click OK.
On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services.
From the left navigation pane, select Compute & Storage > vNICs.
Add or remove security groups as needed, and then click OK.
Perform this task to specify reserved IP addresses for a vNIC to allow the attached cloud host to communicate by using a reserved IP address. If a specified IP address is no longer in use, remove the IP address to release resources.
|
Make sure reserved IP addresses are configured for the network. For more information about how to configure reserved IP addresses, go to the Cloud Services > Network & Security > Networks page. |
To configure excluded IP addresses:
On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services.
From the left navigation pane, select Compute & Storage > vNICs.
Enter an excluded IP address and click Add.
Click OK.
On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services.
From the left navigation pane, select Compute & Storage > vNICs.
Select one or multiple vNICs, and click Delete. Alternatively, click the
icon in the Actions column for a vNIC.
In the dialog box that opens, click OK.
Owner—Specify the owner of the vNIC.
Network—Specify the network of the vNIC.
IP Address—Specify the IP address for the vNIC. If you do not specify the IP address, an IP address will be assigned by the system.
MAC—Specify the MAC address for the vNIC. If you do not specify the MAC address, an MAC address will be assigned by the system.
