Based on the number of nodes in the storage cluster, the system provides the following monitor node configuration methods:
Two-node cluster—Only manual monitor node configuration is supported.
Minimum three-node cluster—Both manual monitor node configuration and automatic monitor node adjustment are supported. Automatic monitor node adjustment is enabled by default. To manually configure monitor nodes, you must first disable automatic monitor node adjustment on the System > Parameters > System Parameters page.
When automatic monitor node adjustment is enabled and the number of storage nodes in a storage cluster changes, the system automatically performs data balancing and adjusts the number of monitor nodes depending on the number of storage nodes.
If the storage cluster has 4 or 3 storage nodes, the system changes the number of monitor nodes to 3.
If the number of storage nodes is in the range of 5 to 10, the system changes the number of monitor nodes to 5.
If the storage cluster has 11 or more storage nodes, the system changes the number of monitor nodes to 7.
The number of monitor nodes in a storage cluster must be an odd number. An even number of monitor nodes might cause split-brain.
Only storage nodes in the cluster can be used as primary monitor nodes. Thin terminals and VMs cannot be used as primary monitor nodes.
You cannot delete monitor nodes if only three normal monitor nodes exist.
On the top navigation bar, click Storage, and then select Storage Management > Node Management from the navigation pane.
Click the Monitor Nodes tab.
On the top navigation bar, click Storage, and then select Storage Management > Node Management from the navigation pane.
Click the Monitor Nodes tab.
Click Add.
Enter the IP address and root user password of a monitor node, and then click Test.
Click OK.
On the top navigation bar, click Storage, and then select Storage Management > Node Management from the navigation pane.
Click the Monitor Nodes tab.
Select an external monitor node, and then click Delete.
In the dialog box that opens, click OK.
Node IP Address: Enter the IP address of a monitor node. The IP address must belong to the management network. If you enter the IP address of a storage node, the storage node acts as both a monitor node and a storage node. Storage nodes, thin terminals, and VMs not managed by UIS can be configured as monitor nodes.
