The shared file system heartbeat network is mainly used for packet exchange between hosts that use shared file systems. Perform this task to configure the network parameters of the shared file system heartbeat network. By default, the management network is used as the shared file system heartbeat network.
Before mounting the shared file system, configure a shared file system heartbeat network based on the storage type, available NIC resources, management network bandwidth, and storage network bandwidth as follows:
When the host uses FC SAN storage:
If the bandwidth usage of the management network is high and the host has available NICs, use an independent network as the shared file system heartbeat network.
If the bandwidth usage of the management network is low, use the management network as the shared file system heartbeat network.
When the host uses IP SAN storage:
If the bandwidth usage of the management network is high and the bandwidth usage of the storage network is low, use the storage network as the shared file system heartbeat network.
If the bandwidth usage of the management network is low and the bandwidth usage of the storage network is high, use the management network as the shared file system heartbeat network.
From the left navigation pane, select Resources > Host Pool Name.
Click More, and then select Shared File System Heartbeat Network.
Enter the IP address and subnet mask or prefix.
Click OK.
IP Address: Enter an IP address of the shared file system heartbeat network. For example, the management, service, and storage networks for hosts are 192.168.10.0/24, 192.168.20.0/24, and 192.168.30.0/24 respectively. To use the storage network as the shared file system heartbeat network, enter any IP address in network 192.168.30.0/24 (192.168.30.8 for example) in this field. If you do not specify an IP address in this field, the management network is used as the shared file system heartbeat network.
